The Embassy Suites can be a nice place to stay but I prefer to go there in the middle of the week rather than the weekend. For one thing the prices are more reasonable, but more importantly there are less kids running around splashing in the pool, trying to sneak into the jacuzzis and being unruly at breakfast. Then again, for families, holiday weekends are ideal because the kids will have lots of playmates.
The rooms are all very spacious; In fact, all of the rooms are suites. There's a happy hour every night with free drinks and snacks. The courtyard boasts one large pool as well as two different hot tubs. Best of all, the hotel is literally right on the beach.
It's only about 1 hour and a half from L.A., so it really is a nice getaway.
