This place has it right-on: great food and gracious service. It's amazingly hard to get both great food and gracious service on a regular basis in Boston -- it's so frustrating for patrons and so needless. It's needless because it's the result of just plain bad hiring by lots of restaurants, and that's where family-owned places like La Summa got it going on. A family like the one here has standards for both, they really try to get it right, and their dignity won't let them under-deliver or take themselves too seriously. La Summa's people are just friendly and, with the excellent food, that made all the difference to me. Our server (she identified herself as 'the daughter-in-law') was an absolute delight to share a low-key evening with for her humor and graciousnessI want to be in this woman's fan club. I'm definitely going back to La Summa.
