We hit the Best Western in Ocean Shores on Mother's Day, and took a chance on the place. We'd never been to Ocean Shores previously, and were heading up for a weekend with 4-year-old twins in tow.
We checked out the local places to stay and wanted to be comfortable where we were staying, wanted to be near the beach and wanted any other amenities that might help keep the offspring occupied for some of the time. Not really knowing what to expect, we decided to try the place out for the weekend.
What a great choice we made. While not a 5-star hotel (I don't believe there is such a place in Ocean Shores), this place was perfect for our needs. We were right on the beach and had a beautiful view of the ocean and skyline. The sunset on Saturday night was outstanding, I highly recommend it. Additionally, the rooms met our most important criteria -- they were clean and comfortable. They came with little kitchenette-style additions, which meant we could haul in our own share of food -- critical for traveling with 4-year-olds.
As an aside, they have a pretty good pool/spa which works out well for the kids. They loved it and had a great time in there, probably more fun than down at the beach. And in keeping with the Lighthouse theme, there's a built-in "lighthouse" that functions as a 360-degree observatory from the top floor. Great way to check out one of the most beautiful places in the world.
