Its convenient location near the Des Plaines river makes this the perfect place to rent a canoe for a casual trip. It's inexpensive, they provide all of the necessary safety equipment, and it's very low-key. The Des Plaines river is by no means dangerous (it's like 10 feet deep in the middle, and mirror-calm) so while they take safety seriously, they don't go overboard like some places do (Boundary Waters in particular comes to mind).
