The Arizona Science Center is in downtown phoenix. It is a museum/activity center for kids. They have a lot of interesting exhibits, however, I thought the science center was showing it's age. Quite a few of the hands-on exhibits were not working when I visited with my kids. Also all the ants were dead in the ant farm, try explaining that to your children. At the time I was there - it was the special exhibit: Dragon Bones. That is definitely worth going to. The new exhibit is Sesame Street helping children learn about their bodies. I would consider going for the special exhibits, however, I wouldn't really recommend it for an out of towner. It's just good for an afternoon out of the heat. They did have a toddler playground that my children loved.
