If you don't know this, Chicago is considered to be a heavily tattooed City. So now you know. As such, there are hundreds of shops, and probably several hundred, if not thousands of tattoo artist in the City.
Deluxe Tattoo in Lakeview is by far best of the best. It has been Recognized and awarded as Top 20 shops and many times at the very top of the list. Enough of free advertising. I recently received my very first tatt at Deluxe. After much research, I settled in this shop and I contracted with Ben W., who happens to own this shop too. I had a GREAT experience. It started with a detailed email describing in detail my general idea. He was quick to respond and we set up a meeting. The shop is super clean, well lit, excellent music and atmosphere and his staff is very friendly. After a 30+ minutes consult I made an appointment for 6 weeks later. Yes, it's a long time to wait, but if you think about it, this was very reassuring. These guys are not in a rush to grab your money. They rather you have a great experience and be excited and happy about your new art, than rush you. He must've said five times over the weeks "It's imperative you get EXACTLY what you want..." He sent me original art work for a first draft that looked almost right out of the gate exactly what I had enviosioned in my email. Good news. I wanted a couple of changes, and he shot me a second draft. Awesome. I wanted a couple of more changes, and by draft number five (yes, 5!) I thought he'd block me from his email server. He did not. He encouraged more ideas, colors, and came up with twists of his own. Fast forward to my awesome tattoo now. I'm super happy. Wish I could post a picture! If you are looking for a 1st tatt, a sleeve, a back piece or whatever, THIS is the shop for you. You owe to your skin to check them out. Yes, I was a tattoo virgin and maybe I don't know anything about art, but I'm well versed in customer service, quality work, and professional behavior and this is the shop I will return for more ink.
