For armed work, they pay low. The area supervisor I worked for believed incorrectly that you're on call 24/7 because you're an armed guard. He would actually try to punish you somehow if you didn't answer his phone calls on your day off. I guess someone really wants to be something more then they are and like a lot of other people have said, the management and HR are lackluster at best.
