They will charge you a different price than what is quoted on their board. Ask before you start. Additionally they are rude and disrespectful to their clients. Michelle is the owner and her husband is the guy who is washing hairs. They are going through some rough times, so they are charging whatever they can when they suspect someone is a new client. Mimi is their friend, but she can't cut hair for her life. She tries to take on simpler clients and has a severe attitude.
Their customer service is lacking. Majority of the good reviews they have are either older reviews or their own.
I grew up in the area and knew Scissor Sound when they first came up from New York and New Jersey area to open their shop in Allston. However the number of times where they have stated a different price than what was on the board and inconsistencies in service and poor quality of work from my last visit with Mimi was the straw that broke the horse's back.
They really need to be written up with the Better Business Bureau.
