While Denny and May are avid horse people and know what they are doing, the environment at Tamarack Hill Farm is a negative one. If you are a working student, you will be taking lessons from Denny, but having to deal with the barn manager, Daryl. For those looking to become a working student, I suggest you don't. Daryl puts a very negative impact on the farm. She does know her stuff and runs a farm well, but takes any of the fun out of things. There is constantly something you are always doing wrong and you feel as if you can't win. I went in with the impression that I would be learning from all sides and enjoying my learning experience. I was wrong. I learn from Denny, and work for Daryl, who makes things miserable. If you want to maintain your sanity, I suggest finding another place to become a working student for. You will value your time more, enjoy your stay, and not want to leave after the first few days.
