Would not stand behind their prescription 3/23/2014

On March 15, 2013 I had an eye examination for glasses and contacts. For various reasons I did not fill them until February, 2014. (They did not carry the bifocals I needed and I buy contacts online.) The astigmatism in the new glasses was worse than my 6-year-old glasses. The contacts were horrible! It is blink and squint, blink and squint. I compared distances with a street sign. What was reasonably clear at 225 feet with the glasses was the same at 155 feet with contacts. That's four seconds to recognize a street sign at 30mph. Driving at night is the pits. I went to the clinic to see what they could do. The receptionist informed me that because the prescription was a year old (11 months 11 days =s a year?) I would need another exam. Therefore there would be no 'follow-up' of either the glasses or contacts. Also, she was quite certain that in 'the year' since my exam eyes had changed. That's strange...my eyes DID NOT change for the glasses but they DID change for the contacts. Is the receptionist certified to give advice about my vision? I was left to believe that the reason for my problem was that I waited 'a year' to fill the prescription and I would have to get another exam. Shame on me! Or was it because I didn't get my products from them they were not responsible? I wrote them a letter of concern and have received no response. I have, though, received a reminder that it has been a year since last exam and they are looking forward to seeing me again. Ya...right. Meanwhile I have $60 of useless contacts. Maybe I can sell the unopened box on Craigslist. more
