Three years go we couldn't get in Serendipity--the line was too long. This time my daughter and I arrived right when they opened on a Thursday. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly at an upstairs table by the window. Between the charming environs of the restaurant and the view of the street, we had a very pleasant lunch. We both ordered sandwiches (A Summer Bries and The Haight-Ashbury) and the portions were very generous--more than we could finish. But of course, we had to save room for the Frozen Hot Chocolate! We split one and it was plenty for each of us. The young men who waited on us were very attentive and charming. It was a lovely mom and daughter lunch and we look forward to going back on our next NYC trip.
