I guess this is kind of a guilty pleasure, reading these horror stories with Capital Kia. Not sure if it's "misery loves company", schadenfreude, or what, but it is oddly entertaining. Mine is not as bad but still worth telling. My wife and I went there a couple years ago to check out the $7900 Rio. We were immediately told they didn't really have any in stock, and by the way it doesn't have power ANYTHING and no A/C. No A/C? How the frick can they sell one of those in Austin? Thus the A/C must be a $4000 upgrade. Anyway, we started looking at Sportages and so forth, and said we might be able to do a deal if we can get a good trade-in on our car. After waiting around awhile, they came back and offered us half of what the blue book was. I was appalled and immediately got up to leave. The salesman tried to convince me to stay, but I said we were hungry and were on our way to lunch but we might come back. He started calling out after us and right when we got to the door, a sales manager literally jumped in front of the door blocking our exit and said "we'd really like to do a deal with you". I politely told him my wife is hungry and we want to eat Mexican food. His response? "We've got pizza right here!" with a look that challenged my intelligence by passing up cold stale pizza. I repeated, "We want to eat Mexican food, so unless you've got some fajitas sizzling, we are leaving". He looked really PO'd and for a minute I thought he might permanently block the exit, but after I shoved by he reluctantly let us go. Needless to say we did not go back, and had a couple laughs over margaritas and quesadillas. In a way I kind of feel sorry for some of the salesmen--the good part of me wants to believe there's a good part of them that is just sickened by what they have to do on a daily basis to make a sale. But then the bad part of me beats up the good part and I end up despising them. I do have to admit--I'm almost thinking about going back there so I can write a new story! :)
