I visited Lamb's Tire for my 30K mile checkup and they told me (and I trust them!) that my rack and pinion was seeping, and would most likely need to be replaced. It's a warranty repair, so I called Capitol Kia and made an appointment. Unfortunately, the earliest appointment they had was two and a half weeks away. So... in I go. After waiting for an hour and a half with my two year old they said, "Yep, rack and pinioin's busted. We've ordered the parts and we'll call you when they come in." They also told me it would be a five to six hour fix, so to make provisions for that.
I'm a single, stay at home mother of a very, very active two year old. Not an easy task.
About two weeks later I get the call. After a lot of begging and dealing with friends, I arrange a ride to come and collect the car when it's done. Wake the kiddo up at 6:30 AM and take it in. Am told there is no appointment on the books, even though the man I called in and talked to remembered me making the appointment.
Catch the shuttle back to the house (which is a -- I kid you not -- a pickup truck. A small one at that. My daughter's poor feet were all bent up at the ankles because the driver's seat was right against her legs) and wait five hours for the call.
I finally call in for status seven hours later (while my child is bouncing off the walls), and after forty-five minutes of waiting and phone tag I'm told the car will be ready at 10 o'clock.
Tomorrow morning.
And no one saw fit to call and inform me of this. When I expressed my upset, they acted like it was standard operating procedure. They offered to come and pick me up to bring me to the dealership when the car was ready. As if I'm going to put my little girl in the back of that truck again.
Now I have to wait another month for a specialist doc's appointment as I have no car to get there and not enough $$ for cab fare that far away from home. Eh, that's no big deal, right? Certainly not to Capitol Kia's service department.
Stay. Away.
