I read the comment warning about Mary's Magic and I guess I can say I had to be stubborn and learn the hard way. Having just moved to Asheville, Mary's was close by and I was only getting one pair of pants hemmed--how difficult could it be to hem a pair of pants? While the service was prompt, I either picked a day when the ladies decided to hit the pipe pretty hard or play musical glasses, and my lovely new pair of 100$ Anthropologie slacks were slaughtered--once a good 5 inches too long, they were now highwaters. My boyfriend picked them up from the shop for me and when I tried them on, he laughed, and I cried. And so now, I too have a Mary's Magic story--and if you dare to go there for even what may seem the simplest of alterations, consider yourself fairly warned.
