Different treatment for different types of customers 12/23/2009

I haven't never been so offended by a restaurant. My husband often takes guests to the university to Woori Jib, and in fact did so the day before we went. First sign of trouble is when the woman who I presume co-owns the place said in a derogatory tone "is that it?". Later, my husband told me that extra rice was free when you bring your bowl up (incidentally, confirmed by his Korean friends) so I went up and asked for some. The owner immediately told me the charge was $2. As I was not sure, I paid (anyway, being pregnant I was hungry). Next in line after myself was a Korean student who asked for rice, in the same manner, and it was given to him, free. I recognize that this might seem like a small incident, but it ruined my meal, and frankly my mood for days. I'm still upset about it (it happened a few weeks ago). Would things had been different if I were Korean? Or should I have ordered more than $10 in food? I guess I won't know, because I hardly want to risk it. I've also banned my husband from going with his colleagues and visitors (he firmly agrees). There are other fine restaurants in the neighbourhood, Korean and otherwise to go to. In view of what I find to be abhorrent behavior, I respectfully submit that you should consider your options and circumstances before becoming a patron of this establishment. more
