My wife and I live here in San Antonio and decided to spend the weekend downtown on the River Walk. We stopped at Zuni, because I had been to an alumni function there before and it seemed ok.\r

What can I say, the place was horrible. It took too long to get a waiter in a more than half-empty restaurant. Once we did get one, we saw him just three times. Once to take the order... and once to deliver the food. Once to re-fill our drinks. You may be wondering about the check... Well I will get to that in a minute. My wife and I tried to choke down some calamari that was surreal in size (half-an-inch-thick and seven inches long) and rubbery like a rubber chicken, and trying to tolerate grilled chicken enchiladas (the chicken tasted like it was from a can... yuck!) and grilled tilapia (a fish that cost $1.99 a pound and they charged us $10.95 for 6 ounces... and it had no flavor).\r

This restaurant is a tourist trap and the one benefit we have of suffering through a miserable experience is that my wife and I can help out-of-towners avoid our mistake.\r
\r
I cannot believe it was rated a 9.0. on Citysearch.\r

Avoid at all costs!!!\r

About the check... After waiting a good 20 minutes for our waiter to show, I did some simple math and added some tax and left the money in cash on the table... I do believe the waiter received more in tip than he deserved... I think it was $2.75... enough to buy about a third of their cheapest margarita.
