I LIVE for the sun dried yogurt sauce served alongside the kashk bademjan (roasted eggplant app). Great cocktails, Manhattan vibe.

Excellent!!! 8/13/2009

I was visiting from Washington D.C. and meeting friends that i haven't seen in 18 years. Very nervous, tired, and hungry. We met there and i had the best steak in my lifetime! The salad and potatoes were incredible!A very nice surprise, not to mention the bar made the perfect white russians for me!To sum up my experience,I was put at ease from the service, mood, and food!!Great place to eat,or to just meet friends, thanks!! Pros: Have the Filet Mignon!! Cons: NONE!! more

Great Food - Categorized with the wrong number of $ 5/2/2009

Maybe I am confused, but $$ I thought this meant moderate prices while $ meant cheap. Cocktails for $10 has become a trend in San Francisco and put the meal for two that inlcuded the lamb burger, the duck and Veggy Kesteh (doubtful on the spelling) and two cocktails put us at over $70. The menu is varied but the entry average price of $22 I don't think is that moderate. This review I guess is more about the people who are marking this with only $$. Pros: Excellent service, good food, prompt late evening seating Cons: On the expensive side more

New best restaurant in San Francisco. 12/23/2008

Great experience! 8/21/2008

Went here just a few days after opening and had a lovely evening. Everything was very well done. The food was delicious, service impeccable and a very nice ambiance. Our waitress (Meg?) was so sweet and had excellent wine recommendations. Even the table stewards were courteous and quick on the water refills. Chef Zare himself came out and spoke with us and was so pleasant and genuine. The goat cheese cheesecake was faaaabulous and what I didn't know before we went was that the pastry chef was a contestant on season 2 of Top Chef. Would definitely go here again!!! more

Best Place to Impress 12/6/2006

Business lunch or a romantic dinner, the Flytrap Restaurant is without hesitation the best, most esthetically pleasing place in the city. Lively yet quiet enough to have a discreet conversation. Sophisticated ambiance and decor worthy of a presidential dining room. A great selection on the menu with each dish a gustatory masterpiece. I highly recommend the Fly Trap for any truly special occasion. Pros: Great Food, vip treatment, at more than reasonable price Cons: to be found more

great customer service & old school atmosphere 11/14/2006

This is one of those places I REALLY wanted to like. Upon arrival (christmas night at 930pm) i was happy...it was cozy and there was a piano player. Sat at the bar, service was great. We ordered the french onion soup $7---tasty, pretty decent beef stock and great cheese/bread quantity. THe lobster bisque---blah, rich but bland. THe calamari---blah, slighty cold, REALLY BLAND. Tried ordering the Chicken Jeruslem but they were completely out of chicken :(. Ordered the Halibut special---it was OK, nothing special at all and slightly over cooked. The New Zealand sparkling wine was nice, the chardonnay options were not good. Overall I might stop in for a drink again---but thats it. more

Fly Trap keeps getting better and better! 3/6/2005

Something very nice is happening at flytrap. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with wonderful live music and a very freindly server named Thomas who helped us out of our coats and into a great booth in the corner. The lamb and the skewers were the biggest hits at our table, and the David Bruce Pinot noir was excellent. We definetly got the impression that this place was changing and you could tell by the friendly and attentive staff who were happy to do anything we asked of them. The rest of the tables were packed with couples drinking champagne on rose petaled tables. It was such a romantic place! Everyone that dined with us on that saturday called afterard to thank me for such a wonderful dinner, i simply had to write something on here. I will definetly be going back. hope you enjoy! Pros: great music, great drinks, wonderful service more

Both my boyfriend and I certainly enjoyed our visit to The Fly Trap Restaurant last Friday. Very romantic. The food was outstanding and the service they provided was extraordinary. We really enjoyed the live piano music that they have. My advice is not to be seated next to the piano, because it can get kind of loud. more
