Upscale, innovative menu and decor 3/21/2012

Happily, we have never beheld the evil/wicked woman described in other reviews...looks like she really brought the ratings down. But, we've been going there as our regular favorite for a long time. The salmon quesadilla is my over-the-top favorite, and over the years we've enjoyed interesting soups like wild mushroom, pumpkin, or squash apple. Their jumbo homemade breadsticks are awesome. And I've never quite figured out what those skinny soda-straw-shaped breadsticks are about, but they're way cool too. It's a little pricey, but the intriguing menu items and quality have always been top notch so we figure that's fair. We usually go at lunch hour when it is often packed full with people waiting out the door (a good sign). Service at that time is not the fastest, but we're always in an out within an hour. Clean contemporary decor is updated regularly. more

Avoid like the plague! 7/13/2011

Didn't have a chance to even think about the mediocre food because the owner was so nasty and beyond rude to the staff. Stay far, far away if you want an enjoyable dining experience. more

WORST PLACE TO TAKE YOUR MONEY 10/21/2010

Over priced Crapy food Crapy owners Bad experience Waste of time and money more

One of the least professional establishments around! 7/4/2009

This is one place to stay away from...I worked there for a few brief weeks a couple of years ago and it was the worst place I have ever encountered. The owner Mary is a controlling, narcissistic, rude and obnoxious charlatan who talks about the entire staff behind their backs. She stole Gary (the other owner) away from his wife and kids. She screams and yells and throws tantrums like a 2 year old. After I put 2 scoops of chocolate instead of 1 scoop on a dish of dessert, she screamed obscenities at me in front of the whole restaurant. She began slamming herself against the wall and banging on the counter tops like a bratty child. Her husband/adulterous co-owner tried to convince me to stay but I had had enough. I could not handle her. Then, she stole ALL of my tips from me - I never received a dime of the tips I earned in the 3 weeks I was there - she kept them all. This is one of the worst women on earth - not just for the restaurant business, but as a human being in general. She is pure evil to the core. I would NEVER NEVER NEVER recommend this place to anyone - people like her DO NOT deserve the business. Cons: EVERYTHING!! more

Best Place in Green Bay! 10/2/2008

Absolutely my favorite restaurant in GB. This is always where we bring guests and colleagues on a business dinner. I appreciate good food and the food here is great. Daily specials are fabulous. The soups are always a great start, especially lobster bisque. Some of my favorites are the Potato Crusted Salmon and the Shrimp and Scallop Saute. Wonderful decor, changes with the seasons. Not quite a full bar but the Margaritas are tasty! We are always made to feel welcome. The service can be slow at times, Jim is the best! Very convenient to the University. If there is a performance at the Weidner Center that night be sure to make a reservation. No need to dress up. Pros: menu, ambience, owners are friendly and gracious Cons: very busy if there is a show at the Weidner Center more

Definitely NOT RECOMMENDED, Owner Mary is someone to avoid 9/28/2008

This place is horrible.....Overpriced menu, rude and snobby owners...The owner Mary is a childish, pretentious, thieving woman. The staff hates the owners. Their soups come out of a bag. The owners steal tips from the waitstaff...You will almost never see the same waiter twice as their turnaround rate is so high...Mary is neurotic and prone to temper tantrums, screaming and yelling, slamming her body into walls when she doesnt get what she wants...Definitely avoid this place... Cons: You name it...The whole place is one big con... more

Great food, a bit pricey. 9/10/2008

I have been to Z Harvest Cafe several times during summer 2008. Each time the food has been wonderful, with the exception being the soups are just good, not great. But the sandwiches and entrees are another story. There is no other place in Green Bay that offers such unique and creative food. Everything is made fresh and you definitely can taste the difference. I like the fact the chef goes outside the front of the place to cut fresh herbs for the entrees from his ""garden."" This place is so not like most of the other restaurants in Green Bay. You will not find ""sports bar"" fare here or the same old boring sandwhich. There are so many unique beverages to try also. The only reason I gave this place a 4 instead of a 5 is the price of some items. Most of the time the food is worth every penny. Still, it is just a bit pricey for Green Bay, but it won't keep me from going back again and again. more

So Fresh 9/6/2008

I totally disagree with the previous comment. Maybe you should stay in your big cities and stuck up ways. I have never had a bad meal. I find it extremely refreshing in city of restaurant chains. I love that you can actually taste the vegetables and pin point ingredients. A lot of places serve dishes that look pretty, but pretty much have only one taste to them. I love this restaurant and hope more people go there with an open mind and ready to try something fresh and different. Pros: the freshest ingredients more

Hardly worth anyone's time... 8/9/2008

I went to Z Harvest Cafe because everyone is always telling me to head there, if I ever go to Green Bay. Well, I did and what I got was far less than exciting. Pros: Parking Cons: food, sloppy menu = sloppy over done food more

yummy! 1/28/2008

oh my gosh first time at z harvest and 2nd and third all in two weeks!!! Try the quesadillas, and everything else!!! Margaritas are muy bueno, made from scratch like everything else, and its really cute inside. all green bay has usually to offer is dark wood , chains, and o.k. food thats not good for you. not Z harvest , its an experience, and for the quality the prices are too low! Pros: awesome food & drink Cons: cant find any yet more

Best sandwiches in GB 7/2/2007

I've been going to Z Harvest for years and years. They have the best sandwiches in town - for sure. Their soups-of-the-moment are tasty, and their salads are great. Try the Smoky Z, or the Berry Salad, or any of the quesadillas...those are some of their specialties. And, like the othe person said, get over the problems with the owner and the hostess. He's not known to be the nicest guy, but he's known to be a good chef, and you're there for the food anyway. Pros: Great food, good service, cute atmosphere Cons: About $1 more per sandwich than a chain like Applebees or Chilis more

Fantastic Unique and Sohpisticated Food 5/10/2007

I've been going to Z Harvest for years now and the food is always fantastic from the classics like the Smokey Z to the specials - my wife ordered the salmon quesadilla today (yes salmon) and it was fantastic. The seafood bisque is one of my favorites too. As for the owner's demeanor, I've seen him both crabby and friendly - get over it, it adds character. I'm not going there because I like his demeanor, I'm going because there is no where between here and Milwaukee that you will get eclectic and sophisticated food like this. Pros: unique items, nice decor - my wife loves it Cons: pricey but you get what you pay for more

Would not go back 3/6/2007

This was one of the worst dining experiences Ive ever had. The host (who may also be an owner?) was one of the snobbiest, most pretentious and condescending women Ive ever met. From the moment we walked in we felt unwelcome. After seating us she went over and was arguing very loudly w/ the chef. You could feel the tension in the air. The servers seemed to be walking on egg shells around the host, the chef looked embarassed by her behaviour. The food was alright, but it took forever to arrive and was overpriced. Overall, the service was VERY VERY unprofessional. The host/owner is someone that no one looking for fine dining should have to deal with. Pros: Drawing a blank. Cons: Bad service, overpriced food, rude owner, tension between the staff, very unprofessional. more

Horrible customer service - AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE 3/6/2007

Although they do have ok food, this is definitely one place to avoid. The owners are constantly bickering and cannot seem to keep the restaurant staffed. We were urged by one of the servers to tip in cash, as one of the owners, Mary, has been known to withhold earnings from the staff. Would not recommend this place at all, in fact, would urge people to avoid it like the plague! The prices are outrageous and the service is sub par...Definitely not a high class establishment. Cons: Owners always bickering. Staff is rude. Food is overpriced. more

love the decor 2/25/2006

Z Harvest is one of my favorite places in town to eat. Its proximity to the Weidner Center makes it a great place to go before a show. The ambience is unique for Green Bay. I love the salmon and the wine list is respectable. The prices are a little high, but it's worth it for a special treat. Pros: ambience, food Cons: long wait, pricey more
