Best

I had the pleasure of going to Yves Durif last week! I have always wanted to experience the luxury of being at a world class hair salon. Yves at the Carlyle was incredible. Everyt...

Worst

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Yves cut my hair twice and each time, it was probably the worst cut I've ever had. The first time, he's spent 30 minutes criticizing my ex...

Warm and friendly AND fabulous hair 6/29/2006

Everyone who worked at the salon was very welcoming. I felt very much at home. As I watched hair being blown out around me, the finishes were flawless. The haircolor is exquisite and it is so amazing that they don't use a single foil. The Profound products were awesome and smelled great. Best haircut I ever got. Thanks Yves! Pros: atmosphere, products, superb skills Cons: have to go up a flight of stairs for the styling area..worth the climb more

Best haircut ever!!! 4/25/2006

I only get my haircut from this place! Yves is the best and he gives the best haircut! You will feel beautiful when you walk out from this place!! more

Rock Star Hair 1/24/2006

I can't say enough good things about this salon, especially about stylist Patty and colorist Maria. I started going to Yves Durif a few years ago after I got my hair done there for a magazine shoot. I always leave the salon feeling like I have rock star hair. Although the salon may be a little on the expensive side, the cost is totally worth it. I love the fact that they use Aveda hair color. If you lighten your hair like I do, you know how important it is to use products that don't make your hair dry and brittle. Pros: friendly staff, skilled professionals, Aveda hair color Cons: expensive more

The best and down-to-earth salon in Manhattan! 2/28/2005

I'm a total beauty snob; get my cut and color at Garren and heard about this amazing makeup artist at Yves Durif so I decided to check him out. He's not there often because he does editorial work and celebrities so I had a month wait to see him. He was definately worth it! He's a warm hearted guy and not one of those pushy counter girls. His modesty shadows his huge talent. Any makeup needs you must see Daniel! I looked amazing on my wedding day thanks to him! more

All-around spectacular 2/7/2005

This place is a dream come true, the cuts and color are consistently fantastic, and Yves himself is a marvelous host. I love the products they use, and they offer you tea or coffee when you arrive -- the aveda tea alone always puts me at ease. I can't recommend it highly enough. Pros: great cuts, beautiful color, fun ambience more

love it!! 5/27/2003

I walked in feeling I needed a change...I left a new woman...I have never felt so comfortable and pleased at a salon prior to the Yves Durif experience...I highly recommend Patti, she worked wonders... Pros: unpretentious, up scale, second to none more

Worth more than $100- 8/7/2002

I've been coming into NYC from NJ for haircuts by Yves for about 14 years. His haircuts are more than $100., but he's worth every penny. I have never had to return for an ""adjustment"" to my haircut. And as I await my turn, I watch the other haircuts he turns out and one is as terrific as the next. He is so good and knows me and my hair, that I just let him do whatever he suggests. If I need a ""mood adjustment"", there's nothing like a trip to NYC for a haircut. And his colorist, David, is second to none. Pros: Creative, Always Cheerful, Great "pick-me-up" more

Amazing Salon 8/2/2002

This salon is an amazing salon!! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The front desk staff go out of their way to assit me with everything from scheduling difficulties to selecting products! Pros: very accomodating, easy access by train, relaxing atmosphere Cons: a bit costly more

SAVE THE DAY OR NITE 8/1/2002

Being new to the area I hadn't a clue where to go to get my hair done, especially being of mixed race. A friend suggested Yves Durif salon. I was hesitant being that my friend was a wasp with straight hair and mine being soooooo curly, but I took the pluge. Not only did one of their stylist straighten my hair to a ""T"",but I also had my hair colored by David who has the most fabulous personality that I have encountered in a long time!(unfortunate for me he's gay). The staff is cool not cold. Pros: great atmosphere, expert hair care, fabulous staff Cons: none so far more

An absolute gem! 7/31/2002

I LOVE this salon! I always thought getting my hair done involved getting attitude or feeling uncomfortable, even after 3 years at my regular salon. My colorist was on vacation, and I live nearby, so I tried this place (with some trepidation.) Not only did I get the best highlights I've EVER had, I was so comfortable that I didn't want to leave. The staff is great, the salon is beautiful, and Yves talked to me even though I wasn't seeing him...I'm definitely hooked! Pros: Low-key, Friendly Staff, Great quality Cons: None! more
