I have shopped at Yours Truly numerous times. Sometimes, I buy something, sometimes I don't. This time, however, upon entering there was a sign saying NO PURSES ALLOWED. I considered it a joke, and continued shopping. I was approached by a ""security guard"", and asked to go put my purse in the car. I asked to speak to the owner. Apparently, there has been theft involving purses, and so they no longer allow women to carry their purses. I was shocked by this ridiculous rule. Speaking to the owner did no good. I was calm, and reasonable, telling her on principle alone I couldn't shop there without my purse. I am not a criminal, and had no intention of stuffing my purse with used clothing. It was to no avail. She was rude, and immediately started attacking my character. When I told her I hope she loses business for this policy, she said that just shows what kind of person I am. I can't understand why all the women in there just accepted this new rule, and continued shopping, holding their wallets in hand. If they all refused to shop there, the owner would have no choice but to eliminate this mindless, rule. I refuse to spend my hard earned money in a business, only to be treated like a criminal. It's ridiculous, and should not be tolerated by any woman. During the approximate 20 minutes I was there, I did see two women leave in protest of having to return their purse to their vehicle. Even when I approached the owner, she was explaining the insulting, and idiotic policy to a very elderly woman. The woman didn't quite understand what the owner was saying, and tried to walk off, only to be told again to return her purse to her vehicle. The woman was amazed once she finally got it, saying, "" I can't have my purse in here?"". Once again, we are all treated like we want to stuff our purses full of used clothing, and steal because of a few bad people. It is very insulting to me, and I hope many others. In a perfect world, she will lose a lot of business. I have never been in any other store, not even a jewelry store, where they will not allow a woman to carry her purse, no matter how big or small. Society tolerates way too much, and this is just another perfect example. It is as if we should be grateful we're allowed to shop there, instead of the owner being grateful that we are willing to spend our money there. Also, she was completely rude when approached on the subject, even though I remained perfectly calm. I placed the things I was going to buy on the counter, and started walking out of the store. Even then, as I was walking away, she was still loudly talking, trying to insult me. She was very unprofessional, and did not handle herself like a business owner, at all. Perhaps that is because she knows when it is all said and done, she will still have plenty of customers. After all, I am just one woman.
Cons: Very offensive new policy
