Great family dining 12/8/2009

My family and I were in the Camarillo restaurant on Sunday December 6th. I did not get the server's name that took care of us. He was hands down the best server we have ever had. He took into consideration we had two young ones under the age of two and took it upon himself to take care of our boys. I just want to thank him so much for the polite care he took of us that night. He also had waited on my large party of work friends about 2 years ago, in February and was great then. I hope you can pass this along to him! Pros: best bread Cons: limited menu for non meat eaters more

Food was okay, beer was good, but pricey 7/4/2007

I've been here several more times more than I would've liked because of peer pressure. I usually give in because it's an okay restaurant and much better compared to some of other places my friends wanted to go to. The bbq sauce was too tart and there was too much sauce and it's overpriced compared to other (better) bbq restaurants. Their mix drinks - I had a raspberry mojito and one of their fancy margaritas - weren't worth it at all. Too much sugary syrup. The quality of the ingredients are generally good, but the menu items are priced much higher than they're worth. One of my friends really like this place because the tri-tip isn't sliced. I'm not a tri-tip fan, but I did notice some improvement over sliced tri-tip from other restaurants. If you're a tri-tip fan, this might be worth checking out. For people like me who rather hold out for a real steak will have to look elsewhere. What I normally go for when I go to BBQ places are the beef and pork ribs. I tried both their beef ribs and pork ribs with and without the BBQ sauce, but as expected, it's not very flavorful without the sauce. The their desserts are good (and unfortunately it shows in the price) and would come back just for that. Overall, it's not a bad restaurant, but I don't like their BBQ sauce, so I don't see it as a place worthy of my money or my caloric and fat intake. Pros: Beer on tap is good. Cons: Overpriced and overrated. Mixed drinks are not worthwhile. more

Beer time! 12/4/2006

woodranch is the perfect place to have a beer with some friends after the end of a long work week. their bbq tri-tip is delicious, as well as the steak fries that come along. price is about average. more

Best tri tip ever! Great steaks! 10/7/2006

I don't know how I missed this place. I golf near Oxnard and pass the Wood Ranch every weekend. I finally tried it last night when a friend arranged for us to meet there. I ordered a ribeye and it was perfect. I tried the tri tip that my friend had and I ordered some to take home to my wife. It's amazing. Tremendously tender. Don't miss the sweet mashed potatos. One last thing, they serve a 25 ounce beer. I had two Firestones! Unbelievable value. This is now my regular place when I go golfing. Pros: Just great, great food. Cons: I hadn't been there sooner! more

Best tri tip I've ever had and I'm from Santa Maria! 9/28/2006

I just discovered Wood Ranch and I'm never going anywhere else for the tri tip. The coleslaw is unbelievable. The 25 ounce Firestone beers maek it all a tremendous night. The restaurant is really convenient right off the 101 across from the outlest in Camarillo. Great stuff! Pros: Great tri tip. Great service. Cons: Gotta be hungry. more

Wow! What a surprise. 5/17/2006

I was over at the Camarillo outlets and before we hit a movie right near there, we went to Wood Ranch for the first time. It was Friday and we got there a little early and got in right away. Good thing! About a half hour later there was nearly an hour wait. My dad had a KC strip steak that I tasted. Perfectly cooked and equal to the big steakhouses. My mom had the salmon with some kind of sauce and she dug it. My girlfriend had the trout, which was remarkably moist. I always judge a place like this by it's so-called ""signature"" dishes. Theirs is a tri-tip/baby back ribs combo. Good stuff! The beef was superb and the ribs were quite good, though the sauce was a little sweet. I had the peanut coleslaw. Outta sight. Best of all: The service. Big thumbs up for Wood Ranch! Pros: Great service, Great value, Easy to park Cons: Sauce a little sweet, Desserts too big, Coffee not great more

Overrated! 6/14/2005

This restraunt was wonderful when it first opened. But as many business do they have become complacent and have let everything go. Kind of like a pregnant lady who has gained 30 lbs, she just says why not 30 more? This is Wood Ranch... Fat and Lazy. I have not had a meal cooked to order correctly in the last 5 times I have been in. Service is slow and staff largly ignores customers. Over all the food is very marginal and at the price they want, it is simply not worth it for any reason! more
