my favorite place, without question 5/2/2008

My boyfriend and I have been to the Windward passage a few times over the past 4 years. Our experiences there have been consistantly good. We have gone as a couple and with his family (group of 6). Occasionally, there is a bit of a wait, and be prepared if you go with a group of over 8 people to be split up. The decor is very classy, the food is VERY good - probably the best seafood in columbus and the least expensive, and the staff have never been anything but nice. Overall, i think that everyone should give this restaurant a try! Try the Devils on Horseback!!! Pros: parking lot is huge, food is delicious, ambience is great Cons: not suitable for parties over 8 people more

Windwordpassage resturant 8/24/2007

I am a bit of a seafood snob. I like the best. The Lobster was fantasic. i have not had this good since the Elks Club with my granfather in the 60's. Even the Fish Market was not as good, a bit overcooked, and I paid almost double. The service was great, however not for big groups. It's the place you would want to take a special date or a couple friends. Small, dark and intimate. Perfect for two people on a special date! Priced well to boot! Pros: gret food, good price, quiet tasteful music Cons: not for big group. Four would be the limit and no kids! more

Great Food 4/18/2007

I took my dad and mom to The Windward and had a great time. The atmosphere was great, the other guests were friendly and the staff made the whole place feel like a get together of old friends. We did have to wait a while because of so many people wanting a table, but the bar and lounge were comfortable while we waited. I had the prime rib, and my parents ordered the mahi mahi and everything was wonderfull and came out quickly after we were seated. BJ was a great server and I look forward to going back. Pros: Atmosphere, food, service Cons: waiting for a table more

Horrible Customer Service 8/9/2006

We took our mom there (at her request) for her 70th birthday. (She and her late husband used to frequent the restaurant.) There were 9 of us; but they refused to seat more than 8 at a table. They could split us up - ""take it or leave it"" we were told. Should've left it! We sat 3 and 6; and made the best of it thru dinner. We had taken a cake over at lunch time; and after we finished dinner, requested the cake. All 9 of us gathered around the 8-top table to sing ""happy birthday"" and indulge in the cake. As our server dished out the cake, another of the waitstaff promptly broke in and told us that one of us was going to have to leave the table immediately. At that time, we requested the check (which we had previously indicated should all be on one tab - it came on two), dumped the slices of cake back into the box, and left the restaurant. The food was acceptable; but the experience, unfortunately, will not be forgotten, nor forgiven. Mom's 70th birthday was certainly memorable! I can't even begin to express how very rude they were; and I want the world to know it! Cons: Rude Hostess and Horrible Customer Service more
