Deli Sandwiches 9/27/2010

Have been purchasing the chicken/swiss sandwiches in deli dept. for several months for my lunches. It was really a hearty satisfying sandwich with generous slices of chicken breast. Recently, they have reduced the portions of chicken by about 3/4 and my last sandwich had only 2 paper thin slices of chicken and one small leaf of not too fresh lettuce. Sad that they would chose to cut costs by this method. Just raise the price and give us a decent sandwich. more

Winco 4/17/2006

I really appreciate the prices at Winco and I also like their selection of meat. We can always find all our basics here even if they don't have some of the organic products we like. We do always need to remember we need cash or a check book there. It's taken us a while to remember that we can't use our trusty debit card at the registers. The store is also always very crowded, making it a less enjoyable shopping experience than we'd like. One of the main things I appreciate about this store is that it is LOCAL. With Albertsons selling out, this is more important to me than I ever realized. more

Cheap groceries 4/14/2006

Winco is a great place to go to get cheap groceries. But just because it's cheap doesn't mean it's bad quality. The bakery has delicious fresh-baked bread, which I highly recommend. While their selection of organic and vegetarian products isn't as extensive as Fred Meyer, they do have some and you can get a box of veggie burgers for about a dollar cheaper. There are a couple of negatives about Winco. They always have a shortage of cashiers, so expect a line no matter what day of the week you go. They don't have self-checkout or an express line either, so I wouldn't recommend going if you just need to pick out one or two items-you'll be waiting behind the woman with three carts. Also, they don't take credit or debit cards, so make sure to go to your bank first so you don't have to pay an atm fee! more

Best prices 4/11/2006

Winco wins the price war! I really try to do all of my grocery shopping at Winco. The prices are pretty much unbeatable. Their meat department is really good about doing special cuts of meat. My husband and I have a steak that we get there and they are great about taking care of us right away. Alot of other grocery stores do not cut and package their steaks at the store like Winco does (I'm sure there are some, but I have asked around). The only slight drawback is that you have to bag your groceries yourself. I think this is one of the ways they are able to offer the lower prices. With my kids, this can sometimes be a challenge, but worth it as long as you don't go on a daily basis. We usually make a trip there every couple of weeks and stock up. more

WINCO is OUR grocery store. 4/2/2006

I love WINCO. The aisles are big and the prices are cheap! The quality of their food is good and the only complaint I have is the fact that it can get super crowded, especially on a Friday or Saturday. They are open 24 hours though so I tend to go shopping after the kids are in bed asleep. I love their bakery too! more

Wal-Mart Jr 3/28/2006

This place is just like Wal-Mart. We would pass by the place and wonder what it was. We had no idea what it was until we decided to go in there. It is a great place to shop for whatever you may need. The prices are very similar to Wal-Mart. The only bad thing is that you have to pay with a check or cash. No credit cards. We did not know that and we had to go to the ATM to get cash as we were checking out. If you are all Wal-Marted out, try Winco! more

Try the Bulk Foods! 12/5/2005

With the selection of grocery stores in Boise, you may have a hard time deciding where to go. But after coming to Winco, you decision will be made. Winco is a great place to fill your fridge and pantry, and still have money left over. They have great prices, and wonderful quality. The biggest bargain to be found is the bulk foods. It saves a tremendous amount of money. FOr instance, you could go to Albertsons and buy a bottle of Bay leaves (spice) for about $3.50; inside there are about 25 leaves. You could go to winco and buy 25 bay leaves from bulk, and it would cost you about $.26. i buy all my spices there, and it is a HUGE discount. I buy all my baking needs and snacks here too. You can get just about anything you want here in bulk, from soup mixes to pet food. I also appreciate the quality of meat here. Its good standard, and at good r prices. The same goes for the bakery. It's just an all around great store! more
