I took my dog to this clinic on 6-24-16 because she got choked on a dog treat, the Dr. advised me she would xray and see if there was any blockage. My dog stayed overnight for observation. I picked her next morning and they claimed she only had a bacterial infection and gave her fluids, they gave no medication and claimed she didnt get sick overnight, however when I took her home, within 10 minutes she began vomiting immediately, which lets me know she was not okay. I immediately took her to her regular vetenarian and they did xrays and found she had gas and said I could take her to specialist that would cost alot of money if they had to do surgery. We had just paid $1000 so we did not have the money to pay for surgery and thought the gas would subside, however it didnt, we called the emergency room back that night and told them our dog needed medicine if they said she had bacteria infection, we picked up early the next morning however she got worse, we took her to the specialist that we were told would cost alot of money and they did xray and found blockage in her throat and removed, however because of the days past she had developed pneumonia and they didnt know if she would be okay. We took her home next day, that surgery cost $1900, she didnt get any better that night, the next morning at 6am we took her back to original emergency room and they only thing they were concerned with was trying to charge another $400 for some procedure and we requested she receive oxygen immediately. They gave her oxygen and she went in to cardiac arrest and died. We feel if they had done xray on original visit we could have had immediately did surgery which would have never developed pneumonia which ultimately took her out. We are planning on suing them also. We later learned our cousin took her dog there within 2 days after we did for snake bite and they gave antibiotics and sent there dog home and the dog died. The level of care is awful and other dogs have probably died after there care. I was told by Kay's Hospital that they get alot of visits from reckless care from their facility. I want them investigated. more

Horrific>>>>>Horrific experience and pitiful excuse of a so called Animal Emergency Clinic! What a joke......this Ms. Myers-Henderson, I refuse to use Doctor because she's far from it!!! This person was by far the most unprofessional, rude, very uncaring, condescending, total lack of sympathy so called Vet I have ever seen nor hope to have to endure ever again!!!! Please spare your beloved pet, not to mention yourself this unbearable treatment and chose another professional REAL VETERINARY Doctor and Emergency Clinic!!! She should be reported, and this place should be permanently shut down!!!!!!!!! more

I called Westside around 6:30 this morning about my 9 week old puppy, who was vomiting and had diarrhea. The lady who answered the phone originally, was short and rude and treated me as if I was incompetent. She didn't care anything about my puppy or my call. She talked to me like I had no sense and was belittling me. I knew that my puppy was not ok though, and was still trying to communicate with this horrible woman. I asked about what would need to be done to begin to see what was wrong with my puppy. When I asked about the cost of the fecal that she told me that I would need to get done, she snapped at me. She never gave me any prices and told me to go to my regular vet. Still trying to communicate with this woman, for the sake of my puppy, I simply explained that I had a job that I had to open at and worked from 7AM to 6PM. She then slammed the phone down, putting me on hold. The gentleman that picked up the phone next, Darwin, had a totally different attitude. He was very polite and helpful, and he even gave me prices when I asked him. When I asked him the same questions that I attempted to ask the lady he answered all my questions with no attitude or hesitation. I told him that I really wanted to bring my puppy in to see what was wrong with him and see about getting him whatever treatment he needed. I asked him the lady who answered the phone first was going to be working that evening. He put me on hold to check the schedule and came back saying no. I did not want to come in if she was going to be there. I wouldn't trust her with my pet in a millions years after the treatment she gave me on the phone. \r \r \r Because of the horrible experience with the woman who I first spoke with, I honestly wanted to rate this clinic as a 0 star. Unfortunately, it forces you to rate them at least 1 star. That 1 star is for only for Darwin, not that he deserves only 1 star. If this review were just on him, then he would have all 5 stars; he did all right things to make me feel as good as I could. However, the lady who I first spoke with was a horrible person to deal with and made me feel so much worse in the beginning that nothing really helped. All I wanted to do was see about my puppy, who I knew wasn't doing well at all! This woman shouldn't be working in the vet field; if you can't show compassion and good customer service skills, then you have no business working with peoples' pets who are there children. more

HORRIBLE!! HORRIBLE!! HORRIBLE! 7/9/2013

On Saturday my poor 9 year old dog couldn't walk anymore. She has congestive heart failure and liver disease. She was taking medication for this. Saturday, She couldn't hardly keep her head up and kept vomiting. My primary vet was closed so I had to go to this horrible place. When I got there no one was there in the front. I had to wait 15 min for someone to come up. I thought this was emergency?? Meanwhile my dog is moaning in pain and very restless. When they finally put me in a room I told her what was going on. I asked her what she think is happening and why she isn't walking. She had no idea! At least my primary vet would have gave me a ball park of what they think is going on. This lady had no clue. I don't know if it was her first day on the job or what. She said she had to run tests and they would keep her over night which would be $1000 just to do so and then I would have to take her to my primary vet on Monday! I only had $1000 and I can't afford to pay them and then take my more

Do not go here 11/28/2012

Last week on Thanksgiving around 6 pm, our 2 1/2 year old Saint Bernard developed bloat. At first we didn't know that's what he had he kept stretching so we thought he hurt from playing outside with him. Then he started to cry in pain and moan which wasn't right, then he started vomiting so we took him into this place because we were worried it was bloat. When we walked in there, there was no receptionist, there was another guy in there very irritated saying we're gonna have to yell for someone to come up here. We waited about 20 minutes for someone to come up there. They took their sweet time, they didn't even do an emergency bloat procedure to try to relieve the gas. They printed out an exam plan for our dog and it was about $1000 to do blood work and X-rays and they want the money up front. We decided to not do blood work cause we knew this was bloat so they did the X-rays which took them an hour, they weren't even busy. The let our dog lay in some kennel in pain for a hour not even more

They printed out an exam plan for our dog and it was about $1000 to do blood work and X-rays and they want the money up front. We decided to not do blood work cause we knew this was bloat so they did the X-rays which took them an hour, they weren't even busy. The let our dog lay in some kennel in pain for a hour not even trying to help him. SO then they came out with the results and it was indeed bloat and something much worse, stomach torsion. We just broke down and were so upset that our 2 1/2 year old dog on Thanksgiving didn't have much time left. One minute he was perfectly fine then the next he was in a lot of pain with a true medical emergency. So they went to print out another sheet with a plan for our dog and it was $3600 for surgery and hospitalization on top of $500 for the x-rays. First off we are a young couple and we didn't have pet insurance. My husbands family was there with us and talked to the people to try to get them to work with us and had no sympathy for us and refused to work with us on the price. Well we had the doctor come in and wanted to know the statistics of the outcome for this surgery and he really had no idea, that's really comforting. He said I need to go look some stuff up in the computer before I give you an answer. I'm sorry but it you are working for an ER you should know a general idea of statistics. When you go to the regular dr for a person the dr never says oh let me go look in my computer... so he goes to look and comes back and it's a 50/50 chance. SO we tried to get them to work on the price with us and they still refused. We had to make a very hard decision to put our 2 1/2 year old dog to sleep, on Thanksgiving of all days. These people only care about your money they don't care about the animals. So we left and my MIL said to the nurse this has been a crappy thanksgiving and the nurse had the audacity to say oh we have a lot to be thankful for... so anyways a few days later I called to possibly get our dogs ashes...$435 dollars... So we decided not to get them...this is such a sad sad place to go to, they don't care about the animals, they shouldn't be vets they are in it for the money and God will take care of them. They sent us a sympathy card yesterday, meant nothing to us and doesn't make up for what they did ...do not go here unless if you have a lot of money.. more

A real life-saver. 10/15/2011

Around 7:30 PM on October 14, my boyfriend texted me at work telling me I needed to call him. When I did he told me that he thought our cat, Jolene, was dying. I left work immediately and when I got home she was lethargic and almost unresponsive to us. We tried calling our local Vet's office in Carrollton with no response or way to reach another facility.\r \r I then tried the Villa Rica office that left a number for the Westside Animal Emergency Clinic. I called them up, and they told us to come in.\r \r We arrived at the clinic around 10PM and left around 11PM. Jade was very polite and friendly and helped keep us at east about our beloved cat. When Dr. Barnes came in she did an inspection and told us she likely had flea anema - which made us feel like terrible pet parents. She left and Jade came back with an estimate, which was somewhat shocking. But then we remembered that it is an emergency facility, but still the price was more for us to afford out of pocket.\r \r Jade told us a more

Praises Sung by EMT and Vet Tech 3/1/2011

#\r User Rating: 5 out of 5 stars\r by Tracy S\r 03/01/2011\r \r It was 4:30 am Saturday night. I woke up to my Great Dane in the beginning stages of bloat - a true vet emergency and one that couldn't be rectified without a knowledgeable vet on hand. I called ahead to let them know what I was dealing with and away we went since this was an issue where time is of the essence.\r \r There I met with Dr. Barnes and Jade, one of the techs. I am sure, due to the fact that I remained calm during my emergency so I could listen to what they were telling me with politeness and consideration, I received the same in return. The staff was not only skilled, but relieved how I chose to conduct myself. Face it, many folks do not come to this conclusion and there is a great deal of abuse they have to put up with from the public with an emergency. As both an EMT and an animal care provider myself, I too have to deal with this everyday. People are human and it is a fact you get out what you put in. more

Wonderful, compassionate service 1/20/2011

I took one of my dogs, Henry, to Westside when I came home from work to find a large puncture wound in his abdomen. I walked in and Jade, the vet tech, kindly got us into triage right away. Dr. Barnes came in shortly afterward, and after a gentle examination, said that she wanted to do surgery to make sure there was no internal damage. Jade came back in with an estimate - $1500 - and I was on my way. When I picked Henry up the next morning, both Dr. Barnes and the vet tech on duty, Danielle, went over everything that they had done, and detailed what care Henry would need during his recuperation. I decided to take him to our regular vet for a few day, and the paperwork was faxed to them before I got out the door. \r \r Most of the reviews that I have read of Westside seem to focus on price. Of course they are expensive - they offer a specialized service. They stay up all night, ready for any emergency that a pet owner might have. Also, they don't do the kind of volume that a regul more

Do not take your animals here 1/21/2010

DO NOT GO HERE! We had to take our 16 year old dog here on Christmas Eve when we realized that it was time to end her suffering. My Husband sat in the room for over an hour before anyone came in and he was the only one there.. Then asked to speak to the Vet just to ease his mind in having to put her down and he was informed that we would be charged an extra $35 Office Visit?? When the Vet came in she showed no compassion or care in what was happening and on Christmas Eve no less. We have had to put an animal or two down before but never with this kind of experience.\r Shameful!\r ETA-the young tech there that night was very sweet and tried to be as helpful as she could. Hopefully one day she will find a better Vet to work for more

Westside Animal Emergency Clnc is HORRIBLE!!!!! 12/28/2009

WHAT A JOKE!!!! This place is horrible! Our 7 week old puppy contracted parvo and our vet was closed so they recommened westside. From the moment we walked in the door, everyone was extremly rude. They told us if we didnt allow them to hospitalize our dog, she would be dead in a matter of days. Our vet told us to orally administer pedialyte, but westside said that was wrong and said not to give her any fluids or food. Silly cause the number one cause of death in parvo is dehydration!!!! so we agreed to let them administer IV fluids. The vet tech was mean to our puppy and after she forced the fluids, nearly all of them drained out all over the exam table!!! she told us unless we paid for ANOTHER IV, that was the end of their services. HORRIBLE COMPANY!!!! If you love your animal, stay far far away!!!! more

NOT IMPRESSED 12/27/2009

Found them very expensive, the only interest is your wallet. You are there for hours and they are not busy. more

Four Stars 11/16/2009

I took my cat there this Sunday morning. He had not had a stool movement going on three days, was not eating (but was drinking water OK). I was concerned about a possible blockage as giving him three doses of lactulose did not produce a movement. They took two XRays and determined he had old feces (which usually grows hard) rather far up into his system. They ended up giving him two enemas (just one didn't work, I guess) and the vet tried getting the rest manually, but it was too far up. So they gave him an antibiotic, shaved his backside, gave a spray to use for the irritated back end, and instructed me to continue giving lactulose at home. PROS: Doctor was very thorough and explained things well. He was both professional and friendly. I liked him very much. The staff was also very good. Most of what they did seemed reasonable. They told me costs up front of most everything they would do before doing so and got my consent CONS: Wasn't sure why they gave him sub-q when I was told more

No Complaints 4/22/2009

I have taken my dogs here twice, once due to an allergic reaction to a bug bite, and again when my dog cut her leg open on our fence. I have no complaints. We were seen quickly both times, and the staff was very friendly. Prices for emergency vets are always high, but these seemed in line with what other emergency vets charge. I hope I don't have to go back, but if another emergency arises, I would take my pets in again. more

Don't waste your time, money or possibly your pets life! Go to GVS 11/24/2008

They told us our boxer had gas, after looking at xrays upside down. The next day we took him to GVS (georgia Veterinary Specialists), we knew something was terribly wrong with him. The told us that his stomach had ruptured and we ended up putting him down. GAS! what a joke. Those people at Westside didn't have a clue. they never even offered pain meds. The poor dog was dying and very much in pain. We will NEVER go to this place again. \r \r If you love your pet, take them to GVS. Address says Sandy Springs but take the Roswell Rd. exit of 285 and its about 10 min. Same price but you get an actual HOSPITAL with Real doctors. more

Very upset and disapointed 9/13/2008

There was a very serious emergency with my pet. He had a seizure and this clinic refused to see him because there was an outstanding balance on a previous animal nearly five years ago. In checking this bill it had been paid and it was their error. Just to know that they refused an animal in desparate need sickens me. This country is getting worse and worse on the concerns of fellow man and animal. How can anyone be this inhumane. I do realize that bills should be paid...but to deny a dying animal of attention is just the cruelist thing that could happen. We did find another doctor to come out on his time off to treat my dog, no questions asked. I just hope that if you decide to use this clinic, take into consideration the heartlessness of this situation. more

Highly Recommended! 6/22/2008

My cat was straining in the litter box without being able to urinate and was in obvious distress. I looked online for the number to the only emergency clinic I knew of, the Cobb County emergency clinic on 41 in Marietta. Fortunately, I pulled up the reviews here and saw that they were getting horrifyingly bad reviews. Out of desperation I called Westside Animal Emergency Clinic. (It was 6:30 am on a Sunday.) I told them what was wrong and they told me to bring my cat right in. The visit was $72 including the exam, which is much cheaper than the $95 it costs to walk in the door at the other clinic. As soon as I arrived, my cat was examined. Fortunately he urinated and the blockage came out while he was there and there was no need for surgery. While I waited, I heard meowing from the hallway and a large orange and cream kitty entered the room authoritatively and insisted on sitting on my lap to knead and purr and provide comfort.( I told the woman at the front desk that this was a nice t more
