New Fan of 8th Avenue Shop 3/9/2006

Westerly is a reason to walk on 8th Avenue in midtown (there are not many...I'm counting). I am a new shopper here...I find it to be a convenient place to stop for a snack if you are working in the area or have caught a show at one of the theatres in the surrounding blocks. I am a big fan of their produce section (one of the better ones in midtown) and I look forward to perusing the vitamins section (it is quite large and I need some time to carefully look through it). Westerly is larger than it appears from the street! more

Big affordable selection 12/8/2005

Westerly has a large and affordable selection of organic and health foods. The shopping experience requires patience because the aisles are narrow and often cramped. But somehow if you take it slow it works out. They stock all the essential organic products that I like to buy like cereal bars without corn syrup and organic frozen veggies. They also have a wide selection of teas and yogurts. Also they caring a large variety of vitamins. With over a half a dozen registers open during peak check out times, the wait is never more than a few minutes. more

Big, well-stocked store with great fresh food section. 11/11/2005

More inviting than your usual healthfood store; not as daunting as Whole Foods. Huge health-oriented supermarket with nice produce, lots of ready-to-eat packaged meals, hot soups, juices, just about every brand you can think of in canned and frozen foods and a large vitamin / health and beauty section. Helpful staff, too. more

Best organic produce and selection 8/21/2005

The Westerly has everything from fresh hot coffee and organic juices to raw chocolate and barrels of olives. It has the same problem that every business in NYC has- tight spaces and high prices, but Westerly is organized and they don't seem to charge any more than they have to to stay open. The staff is alway helpful and hard working, the choices are great in both the produce and grocery selection, and even the vegans can find virtually everything they need to satisfy culinary cravings. more
