We thought we had purchased a stovetop and hood in July that would be installed in about three weeks time. That was the promise. When we started calling in September, we would be promised callbacks that never happened. Finally, we were told in late September that our stovetop and hood were in. We scheduled delivery and installation for today.
The installer was supposed to call the night before to confirm, and he was supposed to come at 8:00. The night before, no call. 8:00 the next day, no installer. Around 10:00, we left voicemail for him, but our call was not returned. Two calls to Walcott were answered with "we'll call you back", but they never did.
At last, around noon, we did get an actual call from Walcott. They told us that the installer had picked up our stovetop and hood at the store, and would be right over. But he still didn't come.
Finally a bit after 1:00pm, we got our second call of the day, this time from the owner. He called to say that, well, actually...there is no stovetop. Our stovetop really did arrive at some point, but had accidentally been installed in someone else's house. But don't worry, we can still have the *hood* installed... And the repairer is "on his way" with it right now.
We cancelled the order and will never deal with this company again.
As bad as the story was, it was the attitude of the company that shocks me the most. No one ever apologized or expressed the slightest concern. Not the salespeople, not the owner. Not once. At all times, we got the clear impression that they didn't care whether they had our business or not.
