Wake Robin Apartments: Post-Residency 8/10/2008

Good: Manager, Dianna Stearns (if not mistaken), is most attentive and professional. Maintenance ppl are great and trustworthy. Steer clear from dealing with others in mgt office.. Bad: -Gloomy living space (only 1 BR window and 1 sliding door in living room). Dark elsewhr. -Cold in colder months. Avoid renting on 1st fl. -Limited access to public transport. -Mgt is too strict.. Improvements: -First fl. apartments need better insulation. -Other mgt ppl need more training in customer service.. more

OK, so I guess we can only wait and see... 11/2/2006

I accompanied my best friend to Wake Robin Apartments last month. We saw both their 1- and 2-bedroom models. Before and after we saw Wake Robin, we also went to other apartment complexes. But he seems to like Wake Robin more for obvious reasons: strategic location within 5 miles from major shopping areas (Easton, 161-Emporium Square?), close to his office, walking distance to Karl Road public library, as well as ethnic and fast food restaurants in Tamarack Circle. He also likes it because the apartment is definitely the quietest (no creaks on the floor, no noise from neighbors) and most homey compare to others. So after an exhausting 3 visits to Columbus (he lived in Athens) that took place in 3 consecutive days to check out apartments, he decided to go with a 1-br with patio. He moved in just few days ago. He didn't experience being rushed into signing a contract; in fact, he was the one who rushed the assistant manager in processing his application. He said, generally, the apartment is clean and comfy, but hoped the management will fix the door deadbolt and the patio fence latch very soon. When he's moving in, the assistant mgr gave him a list of 'things to fix' which needs to be returned to her in 7 days so she can send maintenance staff to get them done. So, that's a good thing. Then he said he had his first encounter with an unexpected roommate, a tiny roach. We read reviews on the Internet of current and/or ex-tenants complaining about roach infestation there. But since he's a neat and clean person, he hopes infestation would never take place in his apartment. To date, he hasn't seen any. So far he loves it there. Having been living in a place where you can hear your neighbors' chatting at low voice (no privacy) or smelling their cigarette smoke in your kitchen because the wall is thin and not insulated makes him appreciates the quietness his current apartment provides. No neighbor's voices, no creaks on the ceiling (the assistant mgr told him the ceiling is cemented). The apartment seems to be well insulated too, which might helps not only making it quieter and more private, but also warmer and doesn't require heating above 68F while he's in. So far, so good, I guess. I can only hope he won't get into any major disasters incl. roach, bugs or even rats infestation, as reported by others, while living there. I'm curious though if anybody knows what year this complex was built, just to get some ideas whether my friend should install a water filtering system in addition to his faithful Brita pitcher. Thanks for reading. more

If you got the time or the money 10/9/2006

when looking for an apartment in Columbus you could could find cheaper places. we stopped to check out wake robin, we couldn't get out of there fast enough. first we waited a half hour for someone to come back in the office. ok I know apartment mangers are busy but with two of them you think one would be in the office at all times. the lady that final helped us was very pushy. we went to look at two of the apartments.ok first the apartments were very nice. they had great stagging.and the apartments were very nice, with the price tag to prove it. if you have the extra money to spend the place you may want to look here. but you want to do some comparison shopping just to be safe. more

Could be better! 3/18/2006

Our second experience with apartments in Ohio was at the Wake Robin Apartments. When we first saw the unit we would be renting, we were told that the yard would be cleared before we moved in. It was a total disaster area- weeds, old furniture, etc.. I would say at least a month after moving in, they finally got somebody out to not only clear out the weeds and trash, but put mulch down on the "lawn" areas. They also failed to provide a latch/lock on our back gate (which opens up into a huge lawn between our complex and a parking lot). Having two youngsters, that was very important to us. So we replaced the latch/lock ourselves. We had issues in the kitchen as well. Under the sink are cabinet door facades- face plates, I guess. Before we even moved all of our things in, one of them fell off. During winter, there was a power outtage during an ice storm. After the ice started to melt we discovered a leak in one of our pipes- it took them literally a month to try to fix it, despite several phone calls. One person came out just to look at what was wrong, and I believe he "fixed" our water meter to go backwards. We discovered months later that they were showing us has having used zero water. Then in summer, our a/c didn't work. That took weeks to get somebody out to fix as well, and they had to come out about 3 times to get the job done right. They did a bunch of "upgrades" to the apartment complex while we were there, but apparently getting mainenance done on time was out of the question for them. more
