I've never had a Wagamama experience that didn't feel cheery and fun. The space is minimalistic and very well-lit (the stuff of facebook profile picture magic, I'm not even jokin...

The noodles were gummy and made the dish mediocre. The vegetables, fortunately, were fresh. The dessert was stale. I would have definitely returned if the restaurant was like the ...

Great Experience 6/6/2007

My co-worker and I were looking for a great place for lunch on Tuesday, we had heard a lot about this place called Wagamama, so we decided to try it. All I have to say is it was delicious and worth it. The service and the food was fantastic. The server was very friendly and enthusiastic. If i had one bad thing to say it would be that our drinks took a little too long, but the fresh squeezed apple and lime juice was worth it! I had the kare lomen with shrimp and some edamame, one of my co-worker had the chicken skewers and fried chicken with curry sauce. Everything was great the kare lomen was a bit on the spicy side but the broth was very tasty! My friend said the fried chicken dish was very good. I will definitly recommend wagamama to anyone looking for a quick and affordable bite! Pros: Value more

The McDonalds of Noodle Joints 5/9/2007

I was very excited to try out Wagamama - Fanueil Hall needed a new, trendy, noodle place to literally spice up the neighborhood. I heard mixed reviews before going, and I left with the same mild experience. The atmosphere was cool, but the food was just OK. Both my food and my friend's dish were room temperature. Even the people sitting directly next to us got food that tasted like it had been sitting out for awhile. Not the fresh-off-the-stove feel. Every noodle dish looked identical too. Figured when I got sorbet for dessert that it was the only warm thing I got! A big pool of melted sorbet at the bottom of the bowl. I would give this restaurant another try just because it is unique, but there are better quality noodle places out there. more

Wagamama - a great place for lunch! 5/6/2007

Had a delicious lunch at Wagamama with my boss. Working in the Financial District , it's been a challenge to find decent, quick lunch spots. My boss had been to Wagamama in Ireland and couldn't wait to check out the Boston spot. We arrived at 11:45 and were seated in about 5 minutes. We shared a couple of ""side dishes"" they are like appetizers but come at different times. We had the steamed chicken gyoza which came with a spicy soy sauce and the edamame which arrived hot. For entrees, I had a fried rice dish called Cha Han which came with miso soup. The rice was flavorful with crisp veggies. My boss had the Yaki Soba noodle dish and said it was as she remembered from Dublin. I tried the apple and lime fresh juice which was very good but on the warm side-- as it's squeezed fresh, it's not chilled. I asked for ice. We shared a piece of cake for dessert. 35 minutes later we were paying and heading back to the office. The line was going out the door but seemed to be moving. We saw a couple other people we knew from our building and gave them the thumbs up. We're going to make this a new, regular lunch spot. Pros: Location, Service, Fresh Food Cons: Patio not yet open more

Not worth the wait 5/4/2007

The service was OK, but the line about getting food fresh was a complete farce. They use hand held computers to take the orders, but you can't tell me they grilled the chicken and cooked the soup just for me. Oh yeah, and my dining partner's order - NEVER CAME!!!! The dumplings were OK, but nothing better than you could get at your grocer's frozen food section. The chicken satay, where was the chicken??? This place will do well as a tourist trap, but if you are a Boston Native, don't make the trip down there. You can get much better Noodles elsewhere in the city. Pros: Tourist Location Cons: Everything else more

Wagamama - A Welcome Addition to Boston! 5/3/2007

How great is it that Wagamama is in Boston? I travel to London on business and each trip always have lunch or dinner at Wagamama. Went with friends for dinner the other night. We had to wait about 5 minutes in line. The seating is communal which is the same in London. Our server was great -- good sense of humor and looked after us. Made some good suggestions. If you are interested in spicy -- try any of the Chili Men dishes. We had the Yaki Soba, Chicken Chili Men, Fish salad & a Steak/noodle dish and also shared duck gyoza, edamame and grilled asparaus. For drinks we had the asian beer and one friend had a delicious fresh squeezed Apple/Lime juice and the green tea is free. By the end of the meal we were stuffed .. the portion sizes are generous and the price is afforable. I also heard that they are opening in Harvard Square this summer.\r Pros: service, food Cons: short wait to be seated more

Way over-hyped 5/1/2007

I've been to Wagama's in the UK, and the Boston one was a REAL disappointment. The noodles were mushy, the chicken had no flavor, and the temperature was luke warm. The crazy thing is that our server told us that they weren't able to get the same spices in the U.S. that they get in the UK--makes no sense whatsoever.\r \r The fastest a dish came out was 8 minutes and one entre took 23 minutes. The real problem is that everyone in my group felt the same way about the food--totally bland. Worse is that BROTH, more than the noodles is critical in Japanese food and Waga just totally misses the boat here.\r \r It may work in the UK, but my guess is that the US customer will call them out over time....\r \r Not to mention their prices are high. $13 for noodles is not cheap.... Pros: Cool design--fun seating Cons: The food Just doesn't live up to it's hype. Service just ok. more

Invigorating atmosphere & Great Noodle Dishes 4/27/2007

Went for lunch and it was fantastic. There are a variety of dishes with noodles, rice & soup. They leverage technology to speed ordering and payment. Each of them have a Pocket PC handheld by which they enter your order and at completion of your meal actually swipe your card.\r \r The food was quite excellent, I had the Chili Beef Soba and my friend had the Ginger Chicken Udon. Both were good portions and used a variety of vegetables to provide a good color palette. \r \r The waitstaff were quick and courteous and very friendly.\r \r Seating capacity is huge and they were great at keeping things clean. Chopsticks are default but you can request a fork and knife.\r \r Most dishes were between $8 and $13 which I found to be quite reasonable. \r \r Excellent experience all around and will definately be back. Pros: Great food, reasonably priced, good staff. Cons: There was a line but they just opened this week... more
