This nonchalant restaurant on Barton Springs Road is the perfect place for a laid-back lunch. Being an employee off the central area of Austin, I am used to the regular thirty minute wait in most restaurants. However, Vinny's was fast, good and affordable. We ordered an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms which exceeded my expectations. It was a delicious plate of mushrooms stuffed with spinach and fried to perfection. They were not greasy but clearly crispy in the outside and soft on the inside. The main plate always comes with a salad and bread. They do not skimp out on the salad. It is a small plate of romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and a choice of vinaigrette or ranch dressing. Go for their home-made vinaigrette dressing. It's not overpowering and it allows you to taste the freshness of their vegetables. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast as my main plate. What a pleasant surprise. A stuffed chicken breast with cheese which was lightly breaded and fried. It came with pasta and steamed broccoli.
You should give Vinny's a try for your next office birthday lunch or for any other regular day. Skip the over-priced restaurant chains and support this local gem.
