Nice Surprise 4/25/2003

I was pleasantly surprised to finally find a bar that caters to the customer...I'm over the typical SOHO bars that feel the customer owe THEM a living...VL went beyond appreciation for me and my crew...after watching a comedy show downstairs (NO CHARGE)..I went upstairs and listened to the band..as my party grew..the manager ran around finding extra chairs and provided comp food to boot!!!Drink prices TOO REASONABLE...keep it up VL..I'll certainly be back!!!! wow what can I say about this place. I was there for the Halloween open bar they had from 7pm to 9pm. The bouncer outside the bar was cool as hell. But the best thing about this place was the three .. yes three hot bartenders they had working behind the bar. Fuhgeddaboudittttt!! One was a catholic high school girl , one had this sexy tight top on saying you got milk and the last one was this sexy dark angel of death. I was trying to get the catholic girl to pick up a book of matchs all night .. lol ( damn the mini skirt was short ).. There was people dancing on the bar . A cool lounge down stairs where you can sit and enjoy the music. A DJ blashing hop hip and R& B music all night. Pros: sexy bartenders, good music, inexpensive drinks Cons: to crowed, no place to park more

Great place to eat and hang out. The food is always good and the drinks are good too. The service is really good about 95% of the time. I have eaten there many times, its always good. Pros: food, service, atmosphere Cons: can get very crouded more

Went here last night with a friend after my roommates had raved about it. boy, were they right! the acoustic band was terrific, and the vibe in the place was perfect - and the bartender had the cutest smile! i think i'm going to become a regular. Pros: Great music, Good value more

Bangin' Saturday Nights 8/4/2002

After a pretty disappointing night out, the night was redeemed by a little place called ""Village Latern"". For a $5 cover, you get access two two floors, live music, DJ, and plenty of good drinks at a reasonable price. The basement lounge had a live band playing fresh and original grooves that was a nice getaway from the mainstream/old-school hip-hip classics spinning upstairs. If you like singing along and grooving to familiar beats, the DJ upstairs provides a great selection, though he could take a few lessons in beat matching. The bartenders had sharp eyes and were quick to take orders. Altogether, the atmosphere was nice and relaxed with a fun, carefree crowd that knows how to have a good time and groove to the beats. Friday Nights are awesome 5/24/2002

This bar can be hit or miss, but weekends are usually very solid. With a choice of live rock and roll downstairs or a DJ groving upstairs you get a choice of vibes. It's totally worth checking out Mr. North when they play on Fridays and they have various bands throughout the week. This place is definitely worth a check out when in the Bleecker Street Area.
