Best

I am a fan of the food as well, but they have been offering some great happy hour specials recently as well as the 1/2 off wine, which I'm also a big fan of.

Worst

To start with the positive ? I got the patio table I reserved and the calamari and bread were okay. The server wasn?t too bad either ? well? nice guy, slow service. Now, to why I ...

Great ambience and food. Service is great but slightly pricey. Located in the corner of the old town, makes It further from public parking. Valet option available. more

Background Check for Desserts? 9/3/2010

Have you heard of a restaurant ask for your driver's license upon providing a credit card for you bill? Well this place does that quite well. Had I carried enough cash I would not have entered into a long and tasteless argument with the so-called manager. Of course, you'll be asked for desserts, before they float your card in the restaurant for 5 minutes for a background check. I'd say run to place a freeze on your credit card. What a waste! more

DISASTER 8/8/2008

It was my 28th brithday celebration with my girlfriend. Besides the disgusting food and drinks the service/employees are awful! The waiter avoided us the entire time and never brought our orders in a timely manner. When we brought it to the attention of the manager he told us they were busy and not to bother him. Fed up my girlfriend went to the bar to order the drinks. The bartender completely ignored her and when she asked for help he shouted and called her the b*@$% word. He then proceeded to make racial comments and that she did not belong in a place like this. I am shocked that this sort of ignorance and rudeness can happen in Pasadena. more

APALLED! 8/7/2008

I recently visited the restaurant and it?s the most horrible experience in my life. Although we had reservation both the table and food was an incredibly long wait. In addition they sat us in a completely different section than we had been promised to have when I made the reservations. They continued to forget our drinks and everytime we reminded the staff they gave us a malicious response. Our waiter was more concerned with gossiping with his colleagues than assist our table. Towards the end of evening as it was getting chilly I asked the manager to turn on the heating lamp because the busboy turned it off while he was cleaning our table. He cruely refused, began snapping his fingers and basically became violent with his foul language and demeanor. In an error in judgement, we decided to stay for the birthday girl. Since the restaurant turns into a club the staff began removing our chairs from the table before we finished our desserts and drinks. This is ultimately the worse experience ever! more

Bad Service 5/13/2008

Waiter was super rude. Waiter was giving us a time limit to finish our dinner. Waiter also threw a pen at one of our persons in our group so she can sign her check. Food was not that good. Would not go back ever Pros: None Cons: Waiters need to take some customer service classes more

Worst Restaurant! 5/12/2008

This is the worst Restaurant I have ever been to. The food was not too bad, but the service needs A LOT of improvement. The waiter was rude, he did not bring what was asked, and he kept pushing us to hurry and leave. It was impossible to eat comfortably this way. Not only was our waiter bad-mannered, but the manager was just as bad. NOT worth the TIME, and NOT worth the MONEY. I was expecting more from this place, but soon realized it is nothing what the website claims or what it seems like. I will not ever be dinning at this place. And I would recommend that you don't waste your time going to a bad restaurant like this. Cons: Service more

Horrendous Service! 5/12/2008

I opted to celebrate my birthday with my friends and family at Villa Sorriso due to the attractive menu options and the warm atmosphere. It was my assumption that South Pasadena was abundant with upscale restaurants with immaculate food and service. To my surprise I was completely floored by the uncivil treatment that we received. I have never in my life been rushed throughout my entire dinner and asked to leave in the middle of dessert after rendering a large sum of capital. In addition, the cost for a pitcher of ICE, ?Margarita? that served 4 but the waiter claimed it served ?6? was $65.00! If paying the aforementioned dollar amount (twice) in exchange for alms was not enough, the staff and management failed to provide us with a lid to cover the left over cake, claiming that they did not have one! It?s a restaurant, foil would have sufficed! It was a completely degrading experience that I do not wish anyone to undergo. I am NEVER going back to VILLA SORRISO or to the City of Pasadena to avoid driving by that hellish restaurant. more

Great Friday night, okay food but amazing drinks and ambiance 4/14/2008

I love this restaurant for its ambiance, the outdoor courtyard, and the drinks. The food is nothing to write home about. I'm unsure why there are service complaints since we had really good service. We were a big party and one of many our server had, but our server didnt miss a beat and provided excellent customer service. The drinks (and I'm talking about the martinis, the wine is kind of average) the service and the ambiance made up for the lack of good food. The club is fun after dinner but gets a bit crowded and the bar tenders are so great as well. I would return just for drinks and dancing and would skip dinner. Pros: Martinis, Ambiance, Service Cons: Food, Wine List more

Lost Its Identity - Forever, I Fear 1/28/2008

About 3 or 4 years ago, Sorriso was a cozy, casually chic bistro. The food was excellent and the service was on par with some of Pasadena's tonier restaurants. The owner then decided to move Sorriso to its current, enormous space and turn the old place into Barcelona, a Spanish-themed tapas joint. Initially, every effort was made to preserve the standards of the old Sorriso. Unfortunately, in about the last year or so, Sorriso has focused on capitalizing on Pasadena's burgeoning, youth-oriented nightlife. Gone are the competent, attentive servers. In their place are neophyte waiters with little regard for their patrons dining experience. The food retains but a dim memory of its former glory. Even the wine list has shrunk to such pedestrian offerings as Blackstone Merlot and no-named "house wine". Around 10pm on Fri and Sat nights, Sorriso clumsily transforms into a twenty-something dance club. Horrified dinners are assaulted with thumping dance music, surly bouncers, and an army of poseurs. People who arrive simply for dinner are slapped with a cover charge upon entry. Unless the owners can retrain the wait staff, figure out where the menu went south, and decide permanently on whether to be a restaurant or a discotheque; I fear Sorriso's glory days are gone forever. more

Terrible Service, Laughable Wine List, Cold, Bland Food 1/13/2008

We had a group of seven people. We ended up getting comped for two of the entrees. All of the clams were closed on the seafood pasta and the "special" steak was cold and the bus staff threw out the leftover portion after being told clearly that we wanted it wrapped up to go. The general tone of the hostesses was snotty and arrogant and our waiter disappeared for long periods of time and the food took forever to arrive. Just absolutely terrible. Really hope this place goes under so a decent restaurant can take its place. We eat out an average of 3-4 nights per week and we will never return to this poor, poor excuse for a restaurant. Pros: They comped the cold and spoiled food Cons: The service, the food, the price, jus teverything more

The Outdoor Dining Setting -One of the Best in Pasadena! 11/2/2007

I definately feel transported when I dine outdoors here. The setting really adds to the overall experience. The food is delicious and there's a variety of dishes to choose from. For those who enjoy social hour, the evenings and weekends generate a crowd lounging on the patio. more

Horrible service, not so great food 10/29/2007

Recently went here for a friend's birthday. Our server was completely incompetent. Waited 15 minutes for him to even take a drink order! Then another 15 minutes he finally wandered around our table where we had to flag him down to take our order. Oh, he said, he didn't think we were ready. I'm not exactly sure what he thought we were waiting for. We ordered finally, and our food came out relatively quickly, but was pretty poor. Nothing special about it at all. We ordered the caprese appetizer, there was one tiny piece of basil on it, the tomatoes weren't great and the balsamic was way too sweet. The penne a la vodka was bland and the salmon salad was not great either. All of our water glasses were empty and our waiter was busy folding napkins, one of the people at our table had to flag him down again, then once more for some bread. (They brought one basket for 8 people, and didn't even bring that one til we got our food).Overall experience was really bad and i highly DO NOT RECOMMEND. Waste of money and time!!! Pros: Absolutely awful Cons: Horrible, inattentive staff. more

The Staff is rude! 7/1/2007

The staff is incredibly rude. I was looking for a place to have my birthday party because many of my friends live in the area. My friend told me to check out this place. I got to the restaurant at exactly 9:55 and the staff told me it was 10:00 and that they were going to charge me. They didn't charge anyone before or after me. I told them that my cell phone said 9:55 and one person on their staff said he didn't care what my phone sad. I will never go back again. I'd rather go to other places in Old Town or Hollywood. Pros: No Pros Cons: The Staff more
