Worst

On a recent Thursday night, six of us had dinner at Vespaio. The serice was quite good, but the food was inconsistent. Mine was great but other party members had just okay food....

GREAT PLACE 4/18/2003

My wife and I travel a lot to places like NYC, Italy, and France. In our culinary experiences, we both agree, this is one of our favorite restaurants anywhere, not just Austin. Outstanding quality of ingredients, preparation, and service. Combine this with a very comfortable atmosphere and I don't know what else you could ask for. I rarely take time to write reviews like this but this place deserves some sticking up for. It's places like this that make living in Austin such a pleasure for us. Vespaio is open on Mondays! This website doesn't say it, but it is. Mondays aren't terribly busy, so I recommend going there on Mondays if you don't want to wait for too long! Pros: food, staff, bar more

good food & fun 2/13/2003

when i got there, i was VERY angry that i had to wait two hours to get a table (it was my birthday night!)...but then as soon as we were seated and had one of their appetizers, i KNEW we were in for at treat. and i was right! this place has been open for 3 years and is STILL going strong. this place is a must! Romantic Evening 1/11/2003

This is not a casual date spot. It is, however, perfect for romancing the one you adore. I took my girlfriend there on her birthday and she now lists it as one of her favorites. Pros: Good wine, Great food, Romantic!!! Cons: You pay for it. more

Authentic with flare 12/11/2002

Being a native Itialian, when i moved to Austin i imediately looked for a good interpretation of italian food. I searched and searched, and frankly, everything was really, really bad...Until I was told about Vespaio. As soon as I walked in I saw the freshly made mozarella, I knew it was going to be good. They offer a great interpretation of the authentic NORTHERN italian cuisine. The southern cuisine is generally what you'll find at the Olive Garden. Vespaio is great and good. Wow! That's Italian! 8/24/2002

After living in St. Louis and Chicago for all of my life, I immediately craved tasty Italian food when I moved to Austin. Vespaio definitely fits the bill. Knowledgable staff, great ambience, reasonably priced wine list, and fantastic, fresh, innovative dishes make this my favorite restaurant in town! A must try in Austin. Vespaio is Italian for ""Beehive"" 8/15/2002

This restaurant is a dream come true for the owners. How do I know? One of them is my cousin! He put his heart into making a dream into a reality and Austin loves it. I live in Dallas and take every opportunity to drive friends down there to have an elegant evening with fine cuisine made entirely from scratch. The menu changes with the seasons, preparing lighter entrees in the summer and heavier ones in the winter. The bar has a lively atmosphere with plenty of specialties. This restaurant is by far one of the best in Austin. The other reviews refer to the place as being Prada like. Dont even bother paying attention to those reviews. Those people must not be accustom to fine dinning. The atmosphere was relaxing and the staff was on key. The owner came to our table and talked with us and suggested the hanger steak, thank god he did. The hanger steak was incredible we also had a linguine seafood dish very fresh.
