You walk in and the first thing you notice is the decor and lighting, they are occlussive and very dated. We've been unable to get consistency in our food orders. Sometimes it's on target delicious, other times undercooked with a hint of dishwater. Take out can be a risky endeavor, as clear as you may have made your order, the results are often incomplete. I don't know if its inherent in the staff and/or cook that they don't seem to get it right. (I speak Spanish fluently.) I would never recommend this place to anyone. It's a depressing place. This place is by far the best Mexican restaurant in East Whittier! I started visiting their Santa Fe Springs location years ago, and was happy to learn that they owned and operated a location in East Whittier when I moved there. I have had several dishes on their menu, including wet burritos, soft and hard shell tacos, Mexican pizza, enchiladas en mole, and menudo, among others, and I have never been disappointed. The only complaint I have is that they can be inconsistent with their guacamole at times, but this probably has to do with the origin of the avocados that they use throughout the different times of year. Their salsa is a bit spicy, and their chips are made from scratch and served warm. Feel free to have plenty of them as the friendly staff will keep them coming! My favorite dish is the #11 (shredded beef enchilada and shredded beef taco combination plate), although anything on their menu is sure to satisfy. This place is an absolute must if you are in the area and you feel like an authentic Mexican meal. Parking is limited, but the food is well worth the visit. I have lived in Whittier ALL my life and always noticed how packed this restaurant gets so I finally decided to try it. WOW!!! The best authentic Mexican food I have EVER had, the tamale's are AWESOME and service was great! Pros: Plate was overflowing with food! Cons: Could use more parking more

The Whittier location of Veracruz isn't that obvious to the usual drive-by, but if you slow down enough, you'll see it embedded in a strip mall. Its worth a stop and a try. The salsa is spicy and delicious and the food and service are excellent. My favorite is the Arroz Con Pollo, shredded chicken with a tasty sauce mixed in a bed of rice, green onions and cheese. Yum! The albondigas is good also. The decor is classic, 70's Mexican hole in the wall, but if you want authentic food, huge Margaritas and great service, this is the place. What the hell are you people THINKING?? They serve chicken from a CAN! This is the WORST restaurant in LA. Food SUCKS, it is EXPENSIVE and the service SLOW. El Torito is MUCH BETTER. Hell, EL POLLO LOCO IS BETTER! Cons: , VALUE, SERVICE more
