Editorial review from Citysearch 10/14/2013

On Friday, July 19th at approximately 9:10 a.m., Venture Pest Control of Atlanta visited my home very application of insecticides. I didn’t really need the product, but felt sorry for the gentleman that came into our neighborhood trying to sell the product door to door. I spoke with Jake Roper, the assigned technician for that day, reporting that I had a newly adopted puppy who was less than 5 pounds. Previous to the appointment, I brought this to the attention of staff at Venture Pest Control of Atlanta. I confirmed with Jake Roper that I wanted the products applied no more than 4 inches out from the perimeter of my house. I stated that the puppy goes to the bathroom on the lawn and pine straw. I stated that they are neurotoxins and I didn’t want my puppy harmed. I was emphatic about it holding up my fingers for a visual and obtaining eye contact. When he was leaving my home, he rang the doorbell to speak with me. He mentioned that the owner of Venture Pest Control would allow him to take the truck out on Saturday, July 27th to try to establish his own route. He gave me several cards with his name hand written on them to hand out if someone indicated an interest. He said he could give them a really good deal. While I was standing with him, I noticed overspray all over the divided lights of my front door. He said that would come off with Windex. I noticed the columns on my porch dripping with copious amounts of chemical. I was shocked and asked him if that was absolutely necessary. He could see that I was not happy. Never had I ever experienced an application like that. He said it would dry and would not stain. I cautioned my girls about themselves and our puppy, requesting that they hand carry her over the threshold and place her on the lawn away from the house. On inspection of my slab at the back entrance, again, sloppy application. Granules covered the table and the slab and over spray with the solution consistent with the front of the house. What ensued following that application, within a 24 hour period, our puppy was having grand mal seizures with impending death due to aspiration and ingestion of Talstar, Biphenthrin, and Cykick and subsequent pneumonia. With quick and decisive treatment by our vet and emergency care vets with Phenobarbital, IV antibiotics, and oxygen, our puppy experienced a full recovery without the need for continuous medication to control seizures. Tests done by our vet ruled out viral, bacterial, and congenital causes, again substantiating toxic ingestion and absorption of chemicals through her skin and inhalation. \r \r I have a time line of critical care that followed ingestion/inhalation of chemicals applied to my house, and yes, the lawn. Jake Roper denied that I stated we had a puppy even though it is clearly stated on the job order. Critical care for our puppy amounted to in excess of $3000, of which, I feel that Venture Pest Control of Atlanta should be responsible for. Communications with Tom Stoddard were futile. Mr Stoddard, seeing that there was a connection between the application and the condition of our previously healthy puppy hours later, went to the manufacturer for resolution and placing blame assuming no responsibility for the untrained technician applying product to my home. What I also found out is that they reconstitute their chemicals with water and could introduce another avenue for error. If you do acquire the services of this company, proceed with caution.\r more
