food or art? 9/23/2002

Just wanted a great meal, too dressed up, foie gras........YUCK pretty pricey for the size of the protions, how about the Cod.......could the bowl have been any larger? I thought it for a family of 5! try it once, doubt you'll go back, at least for dinner Pros: ambience Cons: price, too extravagant more

first class joint 9/16/2002

Wow! What an experience my friends and I had the other night. I've been to fine dining establishments all over the country, and it's rare to find such a first class restaurant without the stuffiness that usually accompanies typical fine dining. The wait staff is friendly and KNOWLEDGEABLE - and it's a good thing with such a wide selection of offerings on both the menu and the wine list. We bought two bottles of wine, and I was most pleasantly surprised when after the sommelier knew what we wanted and how much we were willing to spend, he recommended a bottle that was 1/2 the price of the first one! Bravo! more

Wine list to die for 9/12/2002

Adega has, hands down, the best wine list in Denver and with 50 wines by the glass you can easily try more than one. The menu offers more than just your basic fare. Try the bacon wrapped dates for a starter. The decor is awesome and it's good to see such a cosmopolitan place here in Denver. Great work! more

Adega - Nice look, bad execution. 9/12/2002

Have gone to Adega twice now. The atmosphere is fantastic. The menu is overambitious for the chef. It sounds interesting and complicated on the menu, but is rather bland when it comes to the table. Also, I have had very mediocre service both times I have been. The management has been very gracious when I have commented, but overall I think Adega needs some work. Pros: Decor, Location, Concept Cons: Food, Service, Price more

nice service, OK value 9/6/2002

The sevice was great except that our waiter was too pushy with the wine. My husband had the cod and it looked great, the portion was adequate and was tasty. I, on the other hand had the beef tenderloin and all I got was a piece of meat and a little couscous. For twenty nine dollars you expect more than that. our overall experience was good, but I think for what you pay you should get more. Pros: service, ambiance Cons: value more

A glamorous disappointment 9/5/2002

I love trying the hip, new restaurants, and am a big supporter of a non-chain in Denver, but I was very disappointed by Adega. The food portions were tiny, yet the prices remained heavy. The meals that we had were definitely over-priced and not worth their weight. The service was good, and we did appreciate the wide price-ranges available on the wines (from affordable to very expensive), but we could not get past the dissapointment of the food. It's one thing to charge high prices and offer your customers something for it, it's quite another to charge high prices just to make the customer feel as if they are getting something that they're not. I hope Adega re-evalutes their pricing so that they can stick around Denver. Pros: Good Service, Hip Bar, Affordable Wines Cons: Expensive, Loud more

swank city 8/28/2002

Lovely atmosphere, cool little patio on wynkoop, and great wine bar. The bar area was my favorite and would be great for a first date. more

Simply The Best!!! 8/9/2002

From the amazing decor and layout of this new restaurant to its outstanding menu served on the coolest dinnerware I've yet seen, this restaurant is now my favorite place to eat in Denver!!! I had the tenderloin, which when mixed with their garlic mashed potatoes, just MELTED in my mouth! The waitstaff is professional and extremely attentive. Overally, my experience at Adega was simply the best! Oh, one more thing... HOW COOL IS THE SINK IN THE BATHROOM!!!!! Pros: Presentation, Choices, Delicious more

It's About Time 7/26/2002

Finally a real city restaurant in a town that is trying to become a real city. Adega provides an atmosphere, food, service and wine list that is far superior to anything else in town. Denver has never seen anything like Adega !!!!! Pros: food, location, atmosphere Cons: price, parking, n/a more

Very New Yorky 7/25/2002

I loved this place. It was chic, the food was excellent, the service great. You just can't beat the atmosphere. Like being in New York. more

this is REAL fine dining 7/18/2002

WOW! I can hardly beleive that no one has done any reviews or taken notice of this new restaurant in Lower Downtown. The food is quite frankly incredible. I thought that the price was excellent for the quality of food / preparation. And the wine selection, well I have never seen a wine list this extensive in Colorado before and have lived here all my life. This is a place to take note of. more
