The Best Restaurant in NW Houston For Sure 10/17/2009

Veneto is a great restaurant. The owners are always there. They have a piano player there every time we go. Service is good and the food is also. We love the bruschetta and raviola and chicken piccata and our kids love the pizza. Every meal we have had there has been delicious. Be sure to save room for their desserts! Pros: The bruschetta is amazing! Cons: None that we have ever noticed. more

Veneto Italian Grill DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! This was our 1st visit & it was horrible! 1st our waiter picked up a napkin off the table & wiped his mouth off right in front of us.GROSS!! I ordered the Manacoti & it was so tough.I asked the waiter to remove the item from the bill and when he came back he asked if taking half off was ok.I told him no so the Owner came over & told me that the dish was wonderful & that he would not take it off the bill b/c he cut into ...it & thought that it was perfect and cut like butter. The guy is an idiot. He refused to correct the matter.Read More Cons: all more

Best Itallian Food in NW Houston 2/19/2009

Excellent food, good prices, romantic yet ok for families. We loved the patio, and will sit by the fountain next time. We have been there 6 times now, and it is consistently good. Bread & dip is awesome. They make it there. We got a dessert to split between us because we were so full, and it was awesome. Our waiter, Bryan said the owner's wife makes the desserts. My hats off to her, cause normally I don't like chocolate cake. I think the reason we were so comfortable and satisfied, was because the owner is always there making sure things are taken care of, and goes around talking to everyone. We highly reccommend Veneto. Pros: homemade bread, excellent Italian, great prices, huge portions Cons: I eat so much I don't have much room for dessert more

Love the spaghetti & meatsauce! 8/27/2008

We live close to Veneto's, and have dined there and had takeout many times. We like the menu, the atmosphere, and that the owners are always there. I can understand some people's comments about the service- although mine has always been good; the wait staff seems very young, kind of like they haven't been doing it that long. Anyway, back to the food. They start you off with the bread and dipping sauce, made from herbs and olive oil- sooo good! We always get the spaghetti and meatsauce, but when I've gone with family from out of town, they always enjoy their meal, too. The portions are enormous, so go when you're hungry! The atmosphere is nice, not too dressy, and on Fridays there are live musicians playing. I would also say that this place is kid friendly, even though I've never seen too many kids there. I've taken my kids, and each time there might have been one or two other families with young children in the restaurant. Also, when my kids were newborns, this was our go-to restaurant for takeout. We could order one meal and split it b/c the portions were so big! The price is right, too. You really get a lot for what you pay. As for the nay-sayers' comments, you have to understand that this is a neighborhood restaurant, not something in town. It's not that sophisticated, elegant, or expensive. All in all, I'd highly recommend Veneto's. Try it, you'll like it! Pros: great food, great prices Cons: can't really think of any more

Very, very friendly and comfy... 6/27/2008

I have been to two parties here: one for 10 adults, one for 60 from ages 15 to 60. The owners and staff were way way generous and accomodating. The poster person claiming illness sounds a little wierd to me as does the person who compained about all the ""oil"". Italian food typically has lots of olive oil, so it is hard to know if they were thinking of the place as a ""greasy spoon"" or they simply are not very ""continental"". Italy does have two culinary delights.... wine and olive oil. The bread at this place is wonderful - with the oils and herbs; I do wish they would dress it up just a tad more with table cloths, but despite it's location, it is romantic. Pros: Excellent service, staff, comfort Cons: none come to mind more

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. IT WILL MAKE YOU SICK 5/30/2008

This place is terrible. My boyfriend got really SICK from the shrimp marinara. He was\r throwing up for days. He has not recovered. When I\r called the manager/owner about it the owner took no\r responsibility at all and hung up on me. This is a\r horrible place to go eat. My boyfriends stomach lining\r is all messed up. I called the safety\r inspector's office to go to the restaurant. Unless if\r people want to be throwing up for days I would steer\r clear of this place. Let everyone know not to come to\r this restaurant. It's not worth getting sick for.\r There are plenty of other restaurants to go to. Pros: nothing Cons: food making you physically sick more

Best homemade Italian 10/8/2007

Really great homemade Italian food. Comfortable ambiance, huge portions of excellent food...not hoity toity...just great. Fast and friendly service. The last few reviews sound a lot like a jealous competitor Pros: great food, great service, nice ambiance, reasonable prices Cons: dark parking lot...hard to find more

TERRIBLE! AWFUL!! Don't waste your time or money... 4/13/2007

This place was TERRIBLE! AWFUL!! \r We tried to eat there tonight and we will never return. The service was slow and unhelpful and the food was terrible, REALLY not good at all. We specifically asked what she suggested for seafood lovers and she did not let us know about any specials (we overheard another waitress telling a neighboring table about a fresh fish special). We asked what they made best and she suggested a pasta with chicken, spinach and shrimp. \r \r Our seafood pasta was literally swimming in oil that we poured out into a bread dish but still we couldn't eat it. If I'm paying $18 for a plate of food it should at least be edible. Nobody even checked on us to see if our food was OK and it wasn't busy in the place at all (we ate there on Friday night at around 9 PM). \r \r Our waitress disappeared and never checked on us. We waited 30 minutes for our salad, and then we waited some more well after it was clear that we weren't eating. So I looked for a manager but couldn't find one. We had to flag down a busperson to get our waitress to bring a bill so we could pay and GET OUT. This was really as bad as it gets, we left unhappy and unsatisfied and went home to get something decent to eat. Pros: Live music was nice Cons: Food was terrrible, service was poor more

Not awful 9/8/2005

The wife and I have been here a few times and it's not too bad. We generally go because it is only a couple blocks from our house. Their food is not bad. The fried calamari is very good, as is the bread. The martinis are good but the glasses are too small. The wine list is way too limited. The best bottle of red wine that they have is Blackstone and that's not that great. They need to offer better wines for people with more discriminating tastes. Overall the place is pretty good and convenient. Pros: Close to home Cons: Martini glasses small, Limited wine list more

Not Too Bad 5/19/2003

After reading the great reviews about Veneto, I decided to try it myself. The restaurant wasn't bad at all, but I didn't think it was THAT spectacular and different from other Italian restaurants. I went during lunch time, and there was no one else in the restaurant, so we had the waiter's full attention. Make sure to ask what else the entree comes with because some of the dishes come with spaghetti and marinara sauce (and since I am a cream sauce lover, that was a tad bit disappointing). Pros: good service, good sauces, bread more

Really great Italian 5/12/2003

I was so happy to find I did not have to drive into town to get really good Italian food...have been there 3 times now...and it keeps on getting better. The food is great...but so is the service...I read the previous review...by dinky...obviously sour grapes. Pros: amazing food, great service, beautiful restaurant Cons: hard to find more

Don't waste your time and money! 4/21/2003

My wife and I decided to try this restaurant after seeing the high rating. We went on our anniversary and were so disappointed. It's really a shame, because the atmosphere is nice. The service here is what is so bad. There was only one other table on a sat night. We could not get our waitress to take care of us, even when she knew that it was our anniversary. I could go on forever--anyway, do not go here!! Cons: bad service, bad mgmt more

Great Itain Food in the burbs... 12/26/2002

What a GREAT local restaurant, the food is hard to beat even if you drive into town. The service is supreme and great selection of wines. Hard to find ... but it's worth the hunt! Pros: Inexpensive, good parking, Not crowded more
