FANTASTIC!!! 12/11/2011

These people are so nice and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I went there when my cat chewed on some toxic plants. I was so freaked out and everyone from the front desk to the tech to the doctor was calm, professional and informative. I was clueless about how potent some plants can be and they not only educated me on this but I left with so much information so that I could informa my husband and kids. We are grateful for VCA ALLEN PARK!!! We still have our baby girl, Patticakes. The money was well spent for saving her life!!!! Pros: null Cons: null more

Paid for starvation 7/6/2011

What a horrible place to take your pet! I do not recommend. We had my pet neutered as well as a mass off of his toe removed and sent for a bi-opsy at the same time. These procedures were quoted to us at $210. That is until the day of when they tried to charge us $650. When my husband went to walk out, they suddenly dropped the charges to $360, so we agreed to have it done. It was the weekend before the 4th of July, so we decided to check availability of boarding for our 9 month old english bulldog, as we could not tend to his needs on holiday vacation, seeing as he had a bandaged foot, and cone around his head. We sent our own dog food for the weekend (95% of which was given back to us at pick up), which tells me that my dog was not fed. Although I figured that out when he came home and ate like never before. Also, the bandage on his foot (that they charged me $25 for) was partially unraveled. When we called to make a complaint, they offered a new bandage for my pups foot. THAT'S IT... more

If you love your pets, please do not take them to VCA! 6/18/2011

Please DO NOT take your pet here! I saw an employee of the VCA Animal Hospital hitting a dog repeatedly outside the facility after hours. The poor dog's leg was wrapped and he/she had a cone around his/her head, so I'm not sure what the dog could have possibly done, not that hitting a dog is EVER justified to me. I had been in contact with the animal hospital, and they said they took action but wouldn't tell me what action. I still saw the vehicle the employee was putting the dog in at the facility long after the incident, so it doesn't seem she was fired. I was extremely upset for days after the incident and still get very upset when I think of it. A person who treats animals like that should never be working in an animal hospital, and her pets should have been taken from her. If you love your pets, please do not take them to VCA! more

TERRIBLE!!!! Do NOT bring your pet here! 6/4/2011

Absolutely TERRIBLE!!! Do NOT take your pet here! From the very beginning the staff was rude. I took in my Chihuahua because she had ate chocolate and i brought the wrapper with me. When i showed it to the vet the receptionist laughed like my pets health was a joke. it only got worse from there. The first thing the vet sad (Indian) was that he was not worried if it was milk chocolate. Then why did he go on to give me an estimate of $698!!! He kept forcing me to sign the estimate agreeing to the cost. He was a complete gold digger and took advantage of the fact that it was an emergency. When i picked up my dog she had charcoal hanging from her mouth, she was unconscious, and she smelled like feces. They don't care about your pet, they just want your money. more

Flexible vet 3/3/2011

Very nice facility. I took my relative's dog here for shots and fixing and they dealt with him great. He wasn't good with strangers and they handled him great. The long waits were a pain but they have accommodating office hours for 1st shift workers. Expect a 2 hour visit every time. Expensive place. more

Top Notch! 11/12/2010

First of all - the staff is extremely friendly! Each and every one of them always approach my dog, like it was their own. My dog just loves going there. Not only do I love the docs there but I just discovered Linda the groomer - she is awesome! She has been the only groomer EVER that can handle my squiggle butt dog. It's the one stop shop that I recommend to anyone. more

Gave our cat an infection 11/20/2009

At our first visit there we thought it was nice that the receptionist immediately started petting our cat. Until our cat developed an upper respiratory infection 1-2 days later. The only other time she had one of those was when we first got her from the pound. Of course the vet was more than happy to prescribe an eye gel for the infection. The annual visits are also a bit heavy on the shots (she gets several), and testing (both blood and fecal tests *every* year). We thought this was normal until we consulted with friends who told us that their vet gives their cats fewer shots and does not require blood and fecal tests for a perfectly healthy-looking cat. Next time we're going to a different vet. more

never take your pet to vca allenpark hospital 9/17/2009

i took my sick cat there and told the doctors he was lethargic and not able to stand on his own anymore.there was only 1 dog in the waiting room, which was in and out within 30 minutes.we still waited for another hour with no other pets in the waiting room.we finally got to see the doctor. he was doing the checkup and squeeezed my cats stomach and my cat started to throw up and had trouble breathing.they took xrays , did tests, and the doctor still was clueless as to what was happening. they told me that they didnt want to keep him there, to take him to a vet in southgate. they put my cat on the table. i listen to him for 25 min. gasp for his breath and informed the doctors who didnt care because all they wanted was their money for doing nothing.the other vet in sothgate told me later allen park vet gave him wrong medication and the cathiter they put in was kinked so it was not draining properly.my cat died the next day. i will not ever take another pet of mine there and tell everybody more

VCA Allen Park Animal Hospital is A puppy mill suporter 7/29/2009

I am very dissapointed in this hospital. They support puppy mills. That's how they get their business! by supporting sick puppies! They also did my dogs nose surgery and now her nose looks deformed. They want more money to fix their mistake. They will do anything to get more money from us owners. more

Will not return to VCA! 11/11/2008

I took my shih-tzu to VCA Woodland for the second time since I moved to AA and it will be the last!! I visited them for a regular check up and vaccination update. I happened to mentioned she had wax in her ear for > 1 yr and previous diagnosis of ear yeast infection and that was it....They swabbed her ears and did a cytology: $46 that showed bacteria? and yeast? They swabbed her ears with a cotton swab and a solution: $25 and then recommended treatment with antibiotics $36 and a wax remover $12. Grand total: $286. I'm clearly not a veterinarian, but as a Pediatrician, this diagnoses made NO sense at all. The only pro is that the staff is very friendly, but they have to, so when you get a bill like this you don't storm out of their office. \r I would not recommend them at all. more

Would not recommend 10/1/2008

Tried this vet when I relocated to Ann Arbor based on a friend's positive experience there. Wish I could say the same. Very expensive (over $300 for simple lab work and vaccines), the vet tech was inexperienced and kept trying to suggestively sell tests, she made my cat more nervous and stressed out. The vet I saw turned out to be a relief vet, so when they called with results, it was a different person so we had to start from square one which was frustrating. At my previous vet, a similar visit would run about $180, and they were much more skilled at handling my nervous kitty. Do not even want to follow-up there. Pros: I believe they have comprehensive medical services available, boarding and grooming Cons: Expensive, continual suggestive selling, not adept at working with my nervous cat. Rotating vets so no continuity which would have been ok but no one told me about it. more

Not impressed... 4/4/2008

Although they have nice facilities, I was not impressed by the customer service at VCA Woodland. The veterinarian (I can't remember which one) spoke to us like we couldn't understand basic english. When we couldnt get an appointment, they told us just to drop him off and they'd squeeze him in -- yet failed to inform us of the boarding charge that we'd incur. Although it makes sense -- I would have waited for an actual appointment if I had known I'd be charged 15 bucks for them to throw him in a cage for the day.\r \r The staff doesnt communicate well -- I end up having to re-tell my story to 3 different people. I always feel like they're selling to you there, regardless of whether or not your pet needs what they're offering. \r \r Overall, I'm sure their care is fine (they misdiagnosed my cat, and had us pay 40 dollars for antibiotics that were unneccesary -- but that could have been a fluke), but customer service did not impress me, and I hate going to a vet that I feel cares more about m more

Bad boarding experince 3/20/2008

When my mom left our cocker spaniel to be boarded at VCA, I went to visit her. They put me in a room, and brought my dog to me. She smelled like urine. Along with having poop on her. She was used to being let out only 3 times a day with my mom working. When I asked at the front desk they told me they let them out twice a day. She has never been left there for boarding and never will. more

Nice staff, great care, but kinda pricey? 2/13/2006

I used to take my cat to be seen there. The staff are very friendly and nice. They always take time and care to examine my dog. The only cons i have with them is the charge seems to be a bit expensive. For example, one time i took my other dog there for some coughing and they recommend to do a bunch of test, costing around 200-300. I guess it could be the norm. But later, I took it to another local vet and they said it's just normal kennel cough and prescribe him with some medication and my pooch was well in a few days. So, it could be they like to do a lot of test, or they are looking to make money on things. Though i'd say the staff there are friendly and nice. more

Like this Vet/Animal Hospital 11/18/2005

We have taken our Malamute there numerous times in the past. They are always sweet and gentle in their approach to him. My mother in law has also taken her dog there as well. The deal well with tempermental dogs as my mother in laws dog was one. The prices are reasonable and the time to get an appointment never was too long. They even have boarding which is a plus! We plan on taking our pets there in the future as well! more

Great with "Tempermental" Dogs 11/8/2005

The staff at Woodland Animal Hospital are absolutely wonderful with tempermental dogs. My little boy objected to being groomed. Without resorting to muzzling him, they were able to deal with his long hair that had become matted. He actually looks forward to his Dates with his groomer. more
