Vander Bar! 7/30/2010

Vander bar is an awesome lunch or after work spot. Conveniently located in midtown, right near Grand Central, Vander Bar is perfect for a lunch spot or after work. With big open windows Vander Bar has an outdoor feel, without the unbearable city heat. The happy hour special is kind of a different time than most places in midtown, 12-4pm $4 well drinks and draft beers. Perfect for summer Fridays! Pros: $4 drinks at happy hour! lunch specials! more

Best Midtown Hotel 3/18/2010

THIS IS THE BEST HOTEL TO STAY TO BE CENTRAL TO EVERYTHING IN MANHATTAN... Pros: Great Location and Amazing Rooftop Bar (Mad 46) more

Lovely Hotel 10/23/2009

I recently stayed here for a couple of nights. I was really impressed with the restaurant and I would say it's well worth the visit. Pros: great garlic bread more

Great lobby, not so great room 9/7/2009

I was a little disappointed in the size of the room after being in such a beautiful lobby area. There was no counter space in the bathroom. I had to keep bringing my things in and out with me and try to balance them ontop of the toilet. I was also disappointed that it took a while for the water to cool down in the shower and that I had to hold the spray head to wash my hair. Pros: Beautiful lobby and great food in the bar Cons: Small room and less than great bathroom more

great place to lay your head 3/29/2009

I have brought my daughter on her first trip to New York. We are staying at the Roosevelt and the beds are amazing. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only downside is that the lobby is very crowded because the hotel seems to host a lot of events. Pros: Softest Beds in Town Cons: Croweded Lobby more

scarry staff- would not return 3/15/2009

Lovely Hotel 12/17/2008

My boyfriend took me to the Roosevelt Hotel for the weekend to celebrate our anniversary. My first impression of the hotel was that it was a beautiful, warm, and very classy place. The lobby area itself is just lovely and is all decorated for Christmas which i thought was great. Our room was really large and sumptous. The bed and the sheets were very high quality which is what i expected from a hotel of this calibur but sometimes other places fall short. The Roosevelt did not. It was also nice because we were right in the Grand Central area and so close to everything. We really had a lovely time at the Roosevelt Hotel over the weekend and i highly reccomend it. Pros: Great Room and centralized location more

Great NYC Stay 11/11/2008

I needed a place to put my inlaws for a weekend while they were visiting in NYC. The hotel was lovely, easy to book rooms, and the people there couldnt have been easier to work with. My In-laws were pleased with the hotel and their stay and complimented me on my choice. I wanted to write a review bc there are so many bad hotels in New York that people should know where to stay when visiting. Next time they are in town i will book a room for them here again. (beats them staying at my apartment every time!) Pros: Good Hotel, Good Location, Good Price Cons: in laws now want to visit more more

Bad Experience; Poor Customer Service and Amenities 5/26/2008

There are many other quality hotels in NYC to spend your stay. The concierge and front desk were both rude and of little help. The price for food, drinks and room was overpriced based on what you get. The shower ran out of hot water on four separate occasions and the air conditioner was so loud it made sleeping difficult. I gave many opportunities to rectify issues but was met with slow service, disregard and a lack of customer care. I love NYC and it's shame that the hotel didn't add to the experience. Sorry to have to write a negative review but this stay forced my hand. Pros: unfortunately there weren't any Cons: Customer service, amenities, price more

NEVER STAY ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!! 5/21/2008

I am getting ready to make my 5th stay in 2 years at The Roosevelt. I refuse to stay anywhere else. First though - For travelers who have never stayed in NYC - ROOMS ARE SMALL. Buildings were built in the early 20th Century. Have you ever seen an NYC apartment?? Anyway, by my second stay I was treated like family. Service is always amazing and the staff incredible. Our favorite spot is the lobby bar. Humero's Cosmo is a must have!! I will never, ever stay anywhere else. The staff is now part of my family and I theirs. When you book or check-in, find out if you can upgrade to a larger room for the same price. In these times of financial strain, not as many people are traveling and a lot of the bigger rooms sit empty. Breakfast buffet is amazing - but a little too expensive for me to rationalize - we do make an exception on Sundays, though. Pricey, but worth doing at least once. Pros: Staff, bar, breakfast more

Horrible! 8/25/2007

As mentioned in other reviews, the rooms are very small. The bathroom is not only small, it is awkward to negotiate. There is no exhaust fan which proved to be not so fresh for such a small room. Our late night meal was left outside our room until early evening of the next day. This created a foul odor directly outside of our tiny room. The staff were unresponsive. Moreover, during our stay we had occasion to interact with on-site hotel management; we found them to be unresponsive and disrespectful. We do not reccommend this hotel. It is too expensive for such subpar accommendations. Pros: geographic location Cons: small rooms, at times unresponsive service more

Beautiful lobby, but rooms are plain 7/8/2007

The lobby is beautiful and looks very regal. They use Bath and Body Works for their shampoo, condition, lotion and soap. Pretty much you're paying for location, as it is walking distance to Times Square and a subway station is just 3 blocks away. The concierge can also help you out with making reservations at restaurants. Pros: beautiful lobby, location Cons: small rooms, slow service more

We loved it! 9/8/2003

The Roosevelt really does transport you back in time. Beautiful lobby and lively bar helped to make it feel so ""classy"". Yes, the rooms are small but are comfortable and tastefully decorated. The location really is right in the heart of the city, around the corner from Grand Central and a short walk to Times Square, Madison Ave, etc. We'd gladly stay here again! Pros: location, ambience Cons: small rooms more

Awesome Hotel 8/5/2003

This is by far our favorite hotel for the price, you can't beat it. Great location, you can walk everywhere from here. The service was outstanding. The hotel itself is beautiful. Very romantic with a nice litte spots to sit and chat. The rooms are small but well appointed. The shower pressure is the best we've felt in any hotel. If you arrive early just check in and they will hold your bags. We felt it was worth every penny. We highly recommend it and will stay here again. Pros: location, value, service Cons: small rooms, slow elevators more

Nice lobby! 6/10/2003

I feel lucky to have found a great rate on this hotel! Our room was as large, and with an outside view. Our friends' room was a bit smaller w/out the great view. The location was perfect for Grand Central and Times Square. I never found a shortage of cabs either so I could venture away from the tourist. If you can find an inexpensive deal with this hotel, I highly recommend it for a visit to the city. Pros: semi-soft towels, location, room size more

I will return. 3/22/2003

This hotel was exactly what I thought it would be after reading reviews etc. on the internet. A clean and comfortable standard size room and bath and a grand old New York Hotel lobby and lounge, very well priced. Just around the corner from Grand Central. more

Grand Hotel 10/30/2002

I went here for a college media conference and spent a night, and while it wasn't luxurious by any means, it was definitely classic New York. You feel like you are back in the 20s. The people at all the various shops and at the bar were very hospitable. That's all you can ask for. more

Excellent Hotel 7/28/2002

I stayed at the hotel for three days and the service was extremely excellent. The room was small but it was very comformtable. Highly recommended. more
