Best

this place has the most juicest bacon club i have ever tasted at a burger place. their may be a long line or wait but i assure you it is well worth it.

Worst

I'm so surprised to read any good reviews on Val's Burgers! I had a Mama burger and paid extra for a slice of tomato and it was a poor excuse for a burger. In-N-Out burgers are wa...

Best in the East Bay! 10/2/2002

I have been going to Val's since moving here 5 years ago and they have the best burgers around! The service is great, a bunch of women who have worked their for years and know their regulars well. My only ""beef"" is that they are not open on Sunday and Monday. I guess everyone deserves a day off! Pros: Inexpensive, quick service Cons: horrible parking more

By for the best! 8/30/2002

I'm a huge burger fan! I've been to most of the burger places in the bay, and Val's is by far the best. A little costly, but I guess ""you get what you pay for."" more

VALedictorian 8/30/2002

In n Out can not begin to compare with VAL's. Quality, quantity, and a comfortable place to sit and enjoy a meal. A favorite in town for over 40 years, my mother took me there as a kid, and my son and I continue the tradition. more

OH YEAH 8/15/2002

Momma burgers. Best in the area. Condiments on tables, pickles, tomatoes, relish, onions. Pile it all high and enjoy. Excellent beef stew also. IT'S ALL GOOD AT VAL'S. Pros: Inexpensive, takeout, crowded, it's good, easy to get to Cons: parking more

Hometown Cooking 8/13/2002

While I agree In & Out Burgers are great, I like to give my business to ""family run"" businesses such as Vals. I have always received great service and wonderful food. Pros: Family Owned, Great Value, Portion Sizes Cons: Need more locations, old building more

Excellent Burgers 8/8/2002

This is a great place for burgers cooked to your order, all the fixins' are on the table and you can add as much as you wish. The milkshakes are killer, real ice cream and they bring the mixing can to your table. Fries are OK, not fresh but they don't skimp on size of the order, a basket will serve two persons easily. Limited parking and limited seating but they do take out. Pros: huge burgers, milkshakes are great, take out available Cons: limited parking, always busy, limited seating more

MEAT!!!!! 8/8/2002

This is ""NO"" fast food place, it's a place where you sit down and revisit how burgers used to be made BEFORE fast food processing. Optional cheddar cheese is also a must!!! If you really want a burger that rivals your best outdoor barbeque try Val's!!! I also recommend their shakes, and yes, they use REAL ice cream!!! more

Excellant 7/19/2002

Best Burgers and shankes around the Bay Area. A must for those who like the ""Old Style"" burger joints. more

Deeelicious 7/6/2002

There is nothing better than kicking back after a long day's work and sipping one Val's famous milkshakes, then wolfing down the best burger and onions rings you'll ever eat. There's more than burgers on the menu too, but I'll have none of it! Sunset magazine had an article about the place a few years back and it proudly hangs on a wall in the front of the restaurant. This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of the Bay Area. A definite must for anyone traveling to this neck of the woods! Cons: Tight Parking more

1955 all over again! 7/6/2002

Best tasting buger in bay area. Not fancy burgers like barneys, but quality of meat is better. Have baby (1/3#). mama (1/2#) & papa (1 full#). BUn or french rool. Best milk shakes on the west coast! Only downer is french fries, but they are OK, but Barneys are better. Ask for sue when you go. She's a pistol! No credit cards. Pros: hamburgers, makts, cheder melt Cons: soso fries, cash only, long lines at times more
