I took a girlfriend of mine for a birthday treat and we both had massages. Our two massage therapists were wonderful. They really were able to "read" our bodies and knew what we needed. That was the first time we ever went Urban Retreats. I had a coupon for a $49.00 massage and was so pleased that even if I did not have a coupon, the massage is worth it! I do plan on going back. Pros: Professional massage therapist more

They practice what they preach! 10/25/2007

By far the valley's most affordable massage day spa. Smart mail had a coupon priced at $49.00 for a 1-hour swedish massage - you cannot beat that. Funny thing is, I've lived down the street for everal years and didnt know they existed - glad to know now. They have a full staff of therapists and are great at taking walk-ins. Depending on the therapist you get, some will upgrade for free (hot stone, aromatherapy) - even more bargain for your buck! Stop by today - you'll enjoy it and it wont hurt your pocket book either! :) Pros: Walk-ins, lots of parking, AFFORDABLE Cons: no couple massage rooms more

Great Local Massage! 10/2/2007

I have been looking for a local masage place since moving into the valley, and thankfully someone reccommended this place. I was very impressed with how easy it was to schedule an appointment. I don't like big named spas because it is always a chore when scheduling and I feel it isn't very personable. When I walked into this place, they greeted me by name and I was met by my massuse in no time. It was a very relaxing and serene environment and I am definatly looking forward to going back there soon! Pass it along to your friends and I bet they will thank you! Pros: Easy Parking, Friendly Service, Great Massage Cons: None! more

Great Massage at a Valuable Price! 8/29/2007

Urban Retreat - Tarzana exceeded my expectations of a Massage Day Spa in the Valley. I was a little hestitant at first becuase of the price, but decided to try it anyway. I have been going back ever since, at least 3x a month! They have mostly woman therapist and one male. They are very professional and great! Luba gives an amazing Swedish Massage. Burke Williams is nice and fancy, but it is expensive and time consuming. If you are just looking for a massage, call Urban Retreat in Tarzana - you are in and out in 60 minutes for just $55.00 +tip. Pros: Service, Affordable, Cleanliness more

Amazing massage at a great price! 8/28/2007

This is definately the best massage I've ever had. I had a Swedish massage with aromatherapy from a masseuse name Luba and it was great. I've been to Burke Williams and The Bathhouse at The Hotel in Vegas and those massages have been good sometimes and bad others! But for $120 or $200 you'd think the massage would be something that could not be compared to any other massage. Well, they aren't! It turns out, places like Burke Williams hire massage therapists for like $18/hr, so you don't know what you are going to get! Anyway, I'd definately recommend this place. For $55 (and of course I tipped well because I was so impressed) you get a better massage than at the fancy places. Just my 2 cents.... Pros: Value and quality! Cons: No other services available. more

Worst Massage I've Ever Had!!!!!!!!! 9/1/2006

First off...this hole in the wall place in some run down strip mall tries to pass itself off as a day spa. When I got there, I knew that I was in for disappointment. The first thing that the massage therapist tells me in a thick accent is "My pressure is very good." Interesting. Why would she be telling me this. Shouldn't she be asking me what kind of pressure I like? Well, needless to say, this was no massage that I have ever had before in my life. No long strokes but instead she's rough and very noisy. I didn't even have a chance to relax. She was pouncing on me and trying to hurt me with her massive body. I'm only 5'2" so I don't need too much pressure but that didn't seem to matter to her. It was horrible. Spend the extra money and go to a real day spa to get pampered. Going to Urban Retreat will only leave you disappointed and very annoyed. You know...I would've never gone here if I hadn't had this coupon book that I had purchased at the Bridal Expo. There's a reason why this place needs to sell a discounted coupon book to attract customers. Pros: NOTHING Cons: EVERYTHING more

went for the first time a couple of months ago and have been back 3 times. Feel it is really worth the money since i have gone to fancier spas and have not had the quality of massage i have had at the urban retreat. it is close and convenient since its on ventura blvd and since i am always on the go. its my quick fix for the stress of work and the kids. not fancy shmancy but it does the trick and the price is hard to beat Pros: therapist, quality, value more
