Pleasant-ly surprised. They delivered to Pleasant Ave and although it took a while, the food was pretty good. However, I would skip the cold sesame noodles as the freebie. I will definitely order again. more

I spoke with the waitress whose name is Lin, she kept saying that they raised the price, even though the menu which just came says the same price(6.95). She refused to void it and told me that the computer automatically charged cards. She said the manager won't be available the next day. I was honestly disgusted with the way she tried to get away with overcharging and being fine with it. It is such a small amount, but if they are charging the wrong amount, they have to fix it. Where is the trust between customers and them??\r \r The Worst thing is they keep cards number on file. Who knows they might charge your card one day and pretend as if nothing happened... I am very sure that they would do that with any sense of guilt.\r \r I was so upset that they think that they can get away with their dishonest acts. I order out from Uptown at least once a week, and have ordered from both the Chinese and Japanese sections of their menu. I have not been disappointed once! The staff is always very friendly and courteous, and my food is always ready when I show up (I only live 5 min away). The dining room itself is pretty bare-bones, I've only dined in once with a friend - definitely not a date place! But they are great for take out and delivery, and are open quite late for the Upper East side until 11:30 PM (as of the date of this review). Whenever we need quick and cheap but delicious Chinese take-out, we always order from Uptown Cottage. There's an extensive menu with great prices (cheaper than the majority of other Chinese restaurants in the area) The food is flavorful and for Chinese take-out, is surprisingly fresh (it's not overly oily nor is it saturated with salt and MSG). The restaurant also offers Japanese fare although we have yet to try it out. It's the best place to us when ordering in --- the owners are extremely nice and extremely fast. The restaurant itself is clean but like what other reviewers have mentioned, there's not much decor and it's not the type of place that'd impress a date. Pros: Great cheap and fast and fresh Chinese take-out. Owners are awesome and service is excellent. Cons: Not much decor in the restaurant itself. more

Uptown Cottage is a great place to order in from. Everytime I have ordered (over five years) I have enjoyed my meal. The people that work there are always very nice and its a nice neighborhood restaurant. Good chinese and japanese food. I highly recommend ordering in, the restaurant is clean and the wait staff nice but there is no decor. Pros: Great take out, great prices Cons: No decor more

Cheaper than average neighborhood Chinese place. Always have table for big group. Not impress with decor, but call for takeout. Esp if you have a party. Pros: Cheap, Fast service Cons: fast food!, no decor more
