Excellent Office Staff, Great Doctors!! 11/25/2009

I don't know where these reviews are coming from! Maybe people that couldn't get their own way, despite state laws and federal policies? People have to realize they are not the only patient, especially when a practice is as busy as Upstate Neurology. They also have to realize that there are federal and state guidelines practices have to follow ... especially a specialty practice like Neurology. I have been dealing with Upstate Neurology Consultants on a daily basis for a few years now. I have NEVER experienced any problems what-so-ever. Whenever I need to leave a message, my call is ALWAYS returned within 24 hours (which is a guideline for most offices by-the-way). If I ever have a question, the receptionist is always willing to help, or take a message for a nurse to call me back - which ALWAYS happens. The few times I volunteered to drop radiology reports off to the office, I was always greeted with a smile and asked how I was doing, and the office staff didn't even know me. I even witnessed the receptionist assist someone in a wheelchair to her car. The last thing I have to mention is the fact that the waiting room was always full - and EVERY patient had a smile on their face because the office staff was doing their best to make them comfortable. Pros: Excellent staff, great communication, caring doctors Cons: VERY busy practice, but staff is excellent more

Horrible Staff!! 10/26/2009

My husband has been a patient of Dr. Storey for the past 3 years as a suffer of migrane headaches. Dr. Storey is a great neurologist and has been finding different ways for my husband to control his headaches. But dealing with the office staff has been a nightmare and a headache itself. Calling them on the phone for basic questions is a no win situation. You never hear back from them. Was waiting on insurance approval for a new medical proceedure that was never followed through by the office staff. When we did call to check on the status of the approval, after it had been about 6 weeks, we were told that the nurse that handled that claim was the wrong nurse, it should have been handled by a different nurse. So we were back to square one with the approval. Unless you constantly call to check on your own status, they do not follow up at all. Uncaring, uncommunative staff. We are now in the process of finding another neurologist that specializes in migranes so my husband can finally get the relief he so needs. Pros: Dr. James Storey Excellent Cons: Zero professional staff more

Terrible Staff 10/14/2009

Receptionist and nurses are rude and insensitive. Had a reaction to medication, took them 5 hrs to get to me whether reaction was normal or if I should stop taking medication. Receptionist can't relay an accurrate message. Now I'm changing groups. Have no idea wheather the doctor's know how incompetant their staff is. I wouldn't recommend anyone to that practice either. more

DO NOT CHOOSE A DR HERE UNTIL THE OFFICE STAFF IS GONE!!!!!!!! 10/24/2008

This is an unfortunate review to have to write because the doctors at Upstate Neurology Consultants are fabulous! They are caring and compassionate to their patients who are dealt extremely serious medical issues. Unfortunately, the front office staff negates the positive qualities of the doctors.\r \r The behavior of the office staff is disconcerting. They are rude, uncaring and extremely difficult to work with. They are incapable of positive customer service and are road blocks to proper medical care. \r \r On multiple occasions I have seriously considered finding a new Neurologist specifically so that I would not have to deal with the front office staff at Upstate Neurology Consultants. Even the automated phone message is condescending and rude.\r \r Despite how wonderful my doctor is, and this review is not a reflection on his care. I will NOT recommend anyone to his practice until the front staff is replaced or until he moves to a different practice. \r \r The people who work in the front office should NEVER be allowed to work in the medical industry. Pros: Wonderful Doctors Cons: Abyssmal Staff more

Great Dr but very poor staff, policies and responsiveness 3/26/2008

Took almost 3 weeks to get results of tests screening for very serious illness. Lab had results back in 72 hours, Dr office sat on them. Phone calls to no avail, had to make personal visit to office and get quit firm to get reults. Staff rude, concerned far more about their own procedures than patient satisfaction. No staff understanding that patients being tested for very serious illnesses are worried tense and would like prompt replies to queations about lab work. Doctor Calder is excellent, good communicator, efficient, concerned. His office policies make it quite an ordeal to use his services. Pros: excellent doctor Cons: arrogant front office staff, unconcerned with patient fears and needs more
