University Mini Mart

The University Mini Mart is the only convenience store that is really close to the Hopkins Undergrad Campus. They sell a variety of grocery items--but mostly chips and soda--and also have a full service deli that will make you sandwiches. I've been told these sandwiches are very good by reliable sources, however I've never been able to muster up the courage. The store is a little on the old and dingy side--but again, for convenience (and particularly if you're without a car) it's worth visiting in a pinch. more

University Mini Mart is exactly what the name sounds like. It caters mostly to the college crowd in desperate need of Pringles and soda at 3 in the morning. In addition to their stock of overpriced grocery items, they've got a fantastic menu of sandwiches and beverages. I have yet to have a shake better than the ones at Uni Mini. Prices aren't too bad, and the food is really good. Service can be a little slow, but it's worth it! more

University Mini-mart (aka Uni-Mini) is a typical convenience store with some extras that make it great. This small store contains everything that one might need at 4 am - frozen dinners, soda, ice cream, smoking supplies, medicine, even a rack with a variety of cheeses. Especially popular at all hours of the night are the sandwiches - from steak to seafood, Uni-mini sandwiches are a staple to this community. In addition to the normal fare of convenience store goodies, there is a rack of middle eastern food - grapeleaves, tahini (sesame seed sauce), burghul wheat, sesame candy. They also sell authentic hookahs and make an excellent falafel-hummus sandwich. It's a convenience store - given this, the prices are still reasonable. The clerks are friendly and talkative, and frequently yell at each other in fast Arabic - the place is always hopping and active. more

Now without competition since the closing of the convenience store across the street, University Mini-Mart is open 24 hours and carries a wide variety of merchandise. While the prices make it unrealistic for use as a primary source of groceries, if you live nearby and need some cereal at three in the morning, it can easily fill your needs. The deli counter also makes excellent sandwiches made to order, and though often crowded, service is fast and reliable. more
