When I moved to the Clairemont neighborhood 7 years ago, I asked the neighbors where I should take my cars for service. Several recommended the Union station on the corner of Governor and Genesee. Thought I would drop by for gas a couple times before I tried out the service. My first impression was that this was the first station I had visited in many years that actually kept soapy water in the window-washing containers - great first impression. I've taken three cars (mine and the kids') there for service now for 7 years and have never had a bad experience. more

Came in 3/3/2014

Came in for a smog check without an appointment. They did it with in half an hour and sent my info to the DMV. At $50 total, it was a reasonable price. I'd go back. more

I went today 2/12/2014

I went in today for a smog check. Walked over to the Von's plaza, and as soon as I sat down to eat I got a call from Brian telling me my car didn't pass. I signed something with the price at 50, but he told me not to worry about it since it failed early on. Brian offered to work with my Dad on the phone (he's my main mechanic!) to fix the issue. The problem seems rather redundant, so I'm gonna take it home. Either way, I thought I'd recommend this place to other UCSD students looking for a smog test place. more

Pleased 1/28/2014

"I am so very pleased with the work done on my Hundai today! I had been given a quote that was double the price at another place and my Timing Belt was replaced and everything else was checked! I felt really great the way I was treated by Chad and everyone was so helpful and friendly. I drove out of there with complete confidence and I know I will return again with any problem I have with my car!\r Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" more

Since I could remember 1/20/2014

I have been going this gas station with my 1987 Toyota Forerunner since I can't remember when. It now has 219,000+ miles and runs like a charm. Brian and his team of professionals have always been professional, courteous and responsive to my needs. I feel their prices have been always been fair. They have also been servicing my 2003 Infiniti Coup. They do a great job. Also, whenever I need a recommendation for a service they can't provide, like upholstery, for instance, I can always count on them to provide a glowing referral. more

I have been doing business with this station for more than 10 years and I must say that I am continually amazed by how quickly they are able to get my vehicle repaired and returned to me! I have had a complete engine replaced here...IN ONE DAY and the work has been done right! more

Been Coming 1/3/2014

Been coming here since 2010. I've had everything from smog checks to oil changes to brakes done here and more. They are always friendly and accommodating and I really appreciate how quickly and efficiently they get the work done too! more

We have been taking several of our cars to university service center for several years we have had brakes fixed, a few smogs completed here over the years. Service is quick and the mechanics are great Joe... We are always taken care of!!\r more

  • University City Service Center Inc. has been providing quality car care in San Diego, CA since 1982. We are a family owned business delivering honest and professional automotive repair and auto maintenance services to the people of San Diego and surrounding areas. The quality ASE (automotive service excellence) certified technicians at University City Service Center Inc. employ today?s latest automotive technology and are equipped to handle all major and minor repairs on foreign and domestic vehicles. In reference to changes: At the end of August we have decided to sever ties with the 76 corporation and join with Shell. As far as the business is concerned we may have a couple of days to transition into the new system, but we will be doing every thing possible to keep from disrupting the normal day to day business. As far as the auto repair portion of the business, everything will remain the same. We are looking forward to the change and welcome everyone to come by to see the changes that will be made.
