Do not have a camera or camera phone when trying to enter the Mint. 7/7/2009

Can you imagine a tourist NOT having a camera or camera phone when in Philly? Well, you are not allowed to enter the US Mint with either so be prepared to leave someone outside while the rest of your party takes the tour. What secrets can you film in there? It is composed of punch presses and rolls of metal. Is this a threat to national security? more

Great Self-guideed tour that will impress the kids! 8/17/2005

The mint has a tour that is open to the public as long as the terrorism alert is below orange. You watch through large windows as sheets of metal are rolled out and eventually stamped into coins that are in these large carts on wheels. The coins are new and are so shiny that they almost look fake. your children will think this is really cool. The whole tour can go as fast or slow as you like and there is plenty more to do in the area as this is where a great deal of the historical sites in Philly are concentrated. more
