UNMH is crap. They are a teaching hospital however I'm not sure what they teach. I can tell you they DONT teach compassion , courtesy, or common sense. Your condition does NOT dictate when you are seen either. A mouthwash drunk a bus scraped out of the gutter is more likely to be seen before someone with full blown appendicitis that has waited for hours. After you are seen they parade 15-20 people past you that snicker, roll their eyes and laugh at you pain. I think I'd rather die than ever be subject to that place again. more

This hospital is a joke. I've visited the ER and OR several times. Never had a 'good' experience. I also work there so I know how many employees have a general disregard for patients. Visit UNMH at your own risk! more

UNMH 9/9/2005

I feel bad for the people who have to deal with UNMH (including myself). From personal experience, I feel that the doctors there are not the best. You will be dealing with all interns and answers to your questions will be hazy and unclear. Very nice x-ray techs at the hospital. The ER is a mess. You will usually have a 4 hour wait . Of course I am talking about free health care here, so I do need to be thankful for that. They are doing some remodeling and building around there right now, so maybe things will be getting better for UNMH. Overall, it is tolerable, a little dirty too. However, supposedly they have a good trauma center, maybe only one in state of NM? more
