Best

I love the food at this place! The restaurant is beautiful and the food is always fabulous! I'm super picky and they always get my very strange orders correct. Love it!

Worst

Took my parents out to dinner to the Typhoon on Broadway. As it was raining outside, we rushed into the restaurant. Even though it was during dinner hours, the restaurant was no...

Food is Good Service is Horrible 8/11/2006

Food at Typhoon is good but the service is awful. While I was their they forgot to put in my maincourse. The server never cmae to check on me and the excuse was that he was new. They then screwed my order up and had to fix it over. The manager comped my meal but I will not be back. I also let the concierge in my hotel know how terrible the service was and not to reccomend this place to anyone else. Pros: Salad Roll Cons: Service more

Very Good 1/2/2006

Wonderful food. Great service. Stay in the hotel next door! more

How exciting HO HUM 8/19/2005

All Style and no substance. I went to this place several years ago and was impressed by how high they were on themselves as well as prices that were out of line with quality (I don't think Oriental food needs to be cheap). Taken as a guest I was impressed by how much more they think of themselves. No wonder they are creating themselves as a chain along with the rest of the wannabe ""originals"" Boring. Pros: nice decor, flashy presentations Cons: poor overall quality, arrogance, phony more

Thai me up! 6/18/2005

The food was amazing, very delicate and beautiful - top notch everything. I was born and raised in Thailand and I learn thai cooking from my mother so I know how it's done. We had stuffed trout in banana leaf with lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves inside (it came with seafood dipping sauce - it has fresh garlic, thai chili, lime juice, and fish sauce in it) goes very well with the fish. Tasty and spicy Pad kee mow and juicy Garlic Pork and topped it off with coconut ice cream. Our waitress was awesome, very polite, friendly, and professional in every way. The decor was nice -- not overdone. I have to admit that not everything there is authentic such as their curries but I have to say that everything was so tasty and this place is well worth a visit and to go back over and over again. Pros: food, service, food Cons: price? more

Worst service in town... 3/15/2005

I have been to the Broadway and the Beaverton locations... the service at both left something to be desired. At Broadway we were seated by our server... then he never came back. We had to get up and ask for water from another server! It's Thai! You need water!! Anytime we needed anything we had to either get it ourselves or ask someone for it. Out server wandered around the dining room avoiding eye contact. When our meal wqs done and we were ready to pay I had to put my credit card on the end of the table to get someone to pick it up! The food was great, but I probably won't be back. With so many Thai joints in the this town, you can't get by on the food alone. more

Try the curry 8/6/2004

Typhoon, is by far my favorite resturant. No matter what mood I am in, I can go there and get the pineapple curry, thai tea, and a side of jasmine rice. I recomend this resturant over all the thai resturants I have tried. For any occasion. I have tried the majority of the menu, and i would recomend the Pineapple curry to anyone who enjoy a little heat with their meals. Pros: Curry, Service, Food is excellent Cons: , selective hours more

Worst in Portland 5/12/2004

By far the worst Thai food I have had in Portland. Portions were tiny, prices were over the top and the food was very disappointing. Of the 5 or 6 dishes I tried I wouldn't ever order a single one again. Cons: , portions, food more

I heart Typhoon! 4/28/2004

Typhoon on Broadway has a wonderful and friendly staff. The food is excellent and creative. My only complaint is the creme brulee is a joke. It's so small, they have to give you a mini spoon to eat it with. But who cares! The fried bananas are what you really need to order at the end of your meal. They're heavenly! Typhoon on Broadway also has a much friendlier staff than Typhoon on NW 23rd. Pros: Quick Service, Mouth Watering Food, Friendly Atmoshphere more

Good Service 3/25/2004

I just went there for lunch for the first time. The service was very good and I enjoyed the meal. Good lunchtime atmosphere. more

Consistently yummy 1/3/2003

Whenever I want to go out to a place I KNOW will be good, this restaurant ends up on the list. Both locations serve fantastic Thai food at affordable prices and I really love their seasonal specials. I'm slowly working my way through the menu... Pros: extensive menu, good service more

Good food, small portions 11/19/2002

Typhoon on Broadway is one of my favorite Thai restaurants. The food is good, the atmosphere is awesome, and the service is pleasant. My only complaint is that the portions for lunch and dinner is the same, however, dinner is much more expensive. Don't bother going to dinner at Typhoon, save yourself some $$$ and go during lunch. more

Yummy!! 10/28/2002

I don't usually like the modern fusion type cooking. However, Typhoon does a terrific job and makes an adventure out of the meal. The bar drinks were quite good also. The decor is interesting and the big booths gave a cozy feel to our dinner. However, the service stinks. It took forever for a waiter to come over. Then about 4 diffrent people proceded to serve us throughout the meal. Thus it did not seem anyone was particularly aware of our needs. I will say that after we finally ordered our food came out very quickly. We were also freezing with a vent blowing on us and our food. We asked two diffrent people to turn it down and we were told ""no!"" Our tasty food was quite cold by the time we were finishing it. I will definatly go back, but I will take a jacket! more

Why Wait? Go NOW! 10/20/2002

I can't believe we waited this long to try Typhoon! This place is incredible. The service was speedy and friendly, without being cloying and fawning. Perfect advice on food and drink. The decor was subdued and gorgeous, from entrance to table. They also have a tea menu that would put most tea houses to shame! The Seven Citrus tea I had was more akin to a fine scotch, complex and layered. Not entirely your traditional Thai, but entirely wonderful. The appetizers, from the pork loin skewers to the Bags of Gold were enough to have us back, but the main courses sealed it. My wife's spiced duck was crisp and perfect and the presentation was inspired. My chicken was the perfect spice ratio and the portions were beyond large! The only down note was the sticky rice, which was a little dry. Otherwise, a perfect Asian eating experience! Pros: amazing tea selection, fantastic appetizers, original takes Thai Cons: dry sticky rice more

Paying for atmosphere 10/6/2002

The words that come to mind are ""Trendy Thai."" I think you're paying for atmosphere, because surely the food isn't worth this price. Great appetizers, good entrees, but not worth the cost, given how many Thai alternatives Portland offers. Pros: Pleasant atmosphere Cons: Pricey more

Worth Every Penny 9/23/2002

The Pineapple Curry with Chicken is to die for. You MUST try Miang Kum as well. This place is Thai food heaven. Pros: Amazing food Cons: Bad Acoustics more

Just Try it! 7/26/2002

My husband loves TYPHOON! He likes to go for lunch, and drag me down for dinner. I must admit I was very apprehensive of Thai food, but I really enjoyed it. Not spicy. Also, great ambiance. It's a nice place to go. Try it! more

Great Lunch 5/30/2002

The food was great and the service was quick. Great place to take clients for lunch. more
