Awesome Steaks & Service 2/21/2011

We Started in the Bar, sat down and heard the piano player playing nice soft music in the background. It was quite enjoyable. The drinks were heavily poured and tasty. We sat in the bar for about an hour then headed to the dining room. I was hungry and ordered a custom cut Rib-Eye. They brought a meat cart to my table and asked how thick I motioned about 2"" and it came back to me absolutly perfect. The seasoning they used was fantastic. Warm bread, fresh veggies, and the salad bar were awesome. My Girlfriend ordered the Grouper and I couldn't believe the size of the filet. I tasted that as well it was delicious, I think it was encrusted in Cashew's or soem equally good nutty covering. The dessert was the bomb! We both ordered a slice of Home made Key Lime Pie and it was to die for. I will be back again and again. They have a dinner card there that I bought and it basically gives you buy one get one free on the meal(not drinks). They've been around for 40 years here in Jax and it shows. Everything was done right! Bill was very affordable! Enjoy! more

second time same results 9/25/2009

Our second time to the tree, the first was such a disaster with the wait staff not getting orders correct, food either being overcooked or cold. Second trip, wrong food delivered to table, then waiter argued that I was wrong, he brought what I ordered. I think I can tell the difference between a T-bone and a Filet. 3 at our table ordered 10oz filet, received 3 different size steaks, noticibly different. All 3 ordered the same temp. all 3 noticibly different. End of meal check had items we didn't even order. Just wouldn't expect from a steakhouse with these prices. I can get more flavor, more food, and better service from Long Horn. Pros: great hype Cons: great letdown more

No More Tree Steak House for us 1/1/2009

It pains me to state that we would not revisit the Tree Steak house in Mandarin after several past visits that were over the top. Over the top in service and the food was amazing. We were disappointed to find out Michael was no longer available to provide us with the caliber of service we were accustom to. The young lady the filled in for him did provide us with great service but it was not personal as it was with Michael. The down hill spiral affect took over from there. The quality of the food was equal to that of a Bennigans or lower level restaurant. This definitely was not what we had experienced in the past. My wife would looked forward to the Creme Brule' with each visit. It was not available/ready during our visit. In closing I will says thanks for the Memories Tree Steak House but the value for us to travel back to Jacksonville for Georgia has we did, is not there any longer. Pros: The passion some people have try Cons: Sevice and Value of to food quality is not th elevel it has been in the past more

Nice steak house! 12/27/2007

We went on a Wednesday night to avoid the crowds and were seated promptly. I had a sirloin which was delicious but the potato was small I thought. The salad bar was mundane to say the least but ingredients were fresh. We liked the Tree Steakhouse but thought it was a bit overpriced. It would get higher marks if we could have dinner, drinks, and tip for less than $50 each. Pros: Delicious steaks and fresh salad bar. Cons: It's in a shopping center and parking was limited. more

Incredible steak, but that's about it 8/14/2006

I was beyond shocked when I opened the menu on my first visit to Tree Steak House. Given the ambience, my dining partners and I did not expect to see a 6 ounce filet mignon for $22, particularly one accompanied by such boring sides and a pathetic salad bar. As good as the people who work there 4/18/2006

Once you get past the big tree and the ambiance, your evening at the Tree Steak House is determined by the people who work there ..... and that is not a 100% sure thing. For my party, we had a very young, but, very competent waiter. He communicated well with us and the kitchen.... managed the table very efficiently and unobtrusively. The food was very good. Other tables were not so lucky ..... without going into detail, let me just say that it would be well worth a direct chat with the main host/hostess. They know who is good. The Tree Steak House management could do a little better building consistency with their service staff. By the way, our meat carver who came to the table was a real screwball who had a high opinion of himself. Thank God we had a good waiter and kudos to the kitchen. Horrible Evening 4/3/2006

We had guests from out of town and decided to take them to the Tree. We bragged to them about how good the steak was. All I can say is it was such an embarrasment. The waitress was horrible. She forgot to bring the wine that was ordered, and the meals were not correct. The appetizer was not cooked, so they took it off the bill, but added a $4 drink which we did not have. The steak was horrible and as flat as paper. I will not visit this restaurant ever again and d not recommend it to anyone else. Cons: Expensive, Customer Service, Steak more

Very disappointed 2/8/2006

It was not a busy night so, we expected better than we received. Side dishes were not hot, steak's were not that good and the coffee was terrible. The waitress forgot to bring one of our friend's salad and admitted to my wife that the decaf coffee was not good there. For the price, I was extremely disappointed. more

Fabulous Find 5/7/2004

My husband & I wandered in just to see what it was like, maybe have a drink and leave. From the minute we walked in, we felt so welcomed. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. He insisted we just peek at the menu, then take a look around the dining room. The classy atmosphere and soothing jazz convinced us to stay. I would come back to the Tree before going anywhere else for a quality steak. The value beats the more well-known Chart House & Ruth's Chris anyday! Steak to die for!!! 2/4/2003

(Well, not exactly that good, but close!) Recently, I ate at the Tree for the first time and was blown away by the quality of the food. From the bread to the Tiramisu, everything was perfecto! The steak was mouth-wateringly good, cooked exactly as I requested, and piping hot. THE BEST FILET MIGNON 1/13/2003

The Tree has the best filet mignon I have ever eaten. It is crowded on weekends and the waiting area is extremely smoky from the bar area. Hopefully they will go non smoking when Florida's ammendment 6 banning smoking becomes law in Jan 2003. Cons: crowded and very, waiting area, should, go smoke free more

The Best! 1/13/2003

We have been eating here for 30 years and have been disappointed very few times. We try other well known or trendy places for steak but always come back. Price is very reasonable compared to others and the staff is always attentive. Sometimes the atmosphere is a bit noisy but the other attributes offset it. MY HUSBAND AND I DECIDED WE WANTED TO EAT AT A VERY NICE RESTRAUNT. WE CHOSE THE TREE BECAUSE WE HAD HEARD THAT IT HAD SOME GREAT STEAKS. WE ORDERED OUR STEAKS AND THEY HAVE THIS THING WHERE YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR STEAK. THE WAITRESS DID NOT TELL US ABOUT IT AND WE SAW OTHER PEOPLE CHOSING THIERS AND WE DIDNT GET TO. WHEN WE ASKED SHE WAS LIKE, OH, I DIDNT KNOW YOU WANTED TO, I JUST PUT THE ORDER IN, YOU GET WHAT YOU GET. WHEN I GOT MY STEAK, IT WAS WELL DONE, I ORDERED MEDIUM RARE. SO THE WAITRESS TOOK IT BACK AND BROUGHT ME THIS STEAK AUJUICE. IT WAS THE WORST STEAK I HAVE EVER HAD. I WOULD HAVE RATHER HAD THE WELL DONE ONE. I HAD 2 BITES AND JUST COULDNT EAT IT. Best Value 12/3/2002

Overall, the Tree Steak House has the best value. I have eaten in the 'chain' steak houses before and they tend to be pricey. The Tree has a much more comfortable atmosphere and some of the best food going. The Filet Mignon and Pork Tenderloin can't be beat. Pros: Atmosphere, Great food, Best Value Cons: Only one location more
