If you?re looking for the best blackened tofu in town and cold pitchers of PBR, search no further. Transmetropolitan boasts a unique blend of Italian and American cuisine from large calzones stuffed with your favorite pizza toppings to portabella paninis and potato soup. Draft beer is cheap and cold but if you?re craving a cocktail, the upstairs has a full bar in addition to extra seating, some of which overlooks downtown. Perching outside in cafe style comfort is an option, and you?re more than welcome to enjoy a smoke and bring your pooch. My favorite is the build your own salad! It?s reasonably priced, around $7, and you can load it high with fresh veggies and feta cheese. A jukebox in the corner assures a variety of tunes and although the staff is comprised of typical college-town hipsters, they keep your table clean and stay out of your way while you enjoy your meal. Order and pay at the counter when you arrive, and they?ll have your pizza to your table in ten to fifteen minutes. Serving food until 11pm on the weekends and staying open until 2am for the night owls, they offer a chic, casual, adult atmosphere for those who want to avoid the underage bars and college kid feel.
Pros: Chill atmosphere and tasty eats
Cons: average service
