Nov. 08- Does this sound familiar to you at your current salon?: 5 minute convo re: what you'd like your hair to look like, salon gossip, a hair style you can't recreate, the half dozen products they used being pushed on you for purchase at checkout? If this sounds familiar, Paul Reyes is your guy. I typically procrastinate when it comes to hair care b/c of experiences like the above. I am a well dressed, professional, 20 something who works in a law office. My look is well-maintained with attention to clothing, makeup, accessories, etc..., however, with my hair, I throw it up into the same up-do. I have never seen the same hair care professional more than once & I always walk into the salon when my hair is beyond horrible for the reasons referenced above. Paul Reyes saw the same of me. I spent 2.5 hours with Paul in a comfortable and relaxed environment. Throughout my time there, we talked mostly about hair, color & cut history, my habits with regard to hair care, how comfortable I am with products and tools (etc). After seeing his thoroughness, I happily left the cut up to him. We kept the same general color, but the color he used made my hair shinier than it has ever been. He asked permission & then proceeded to cut my hair so that I could no longer get it into my signature up-do. A dryer, flat brush, & mousse were used (I told him I hate round brushes) & while styling he explained his technique & suggestions to recreate the look. My hair looks better than it ever has. I've had 2 clients at work demand Paul's contact info. Moreover, I was actually able to recreate the look the next day. I am reformed.*Update* Feb. '09- Paul passed the test, I returned. I think Paul & Alan could suggest shaving my head & I'd trust them. Paul & Alan are so enjoyable & their personalities are infectious. Paul, Allen, the staff, and the clients who walk through the door are so complementary and gracious with each other. They really have something special here! A++++ Pros: Knowledge, Awareness of customer's needs, Great personality, Parking, Quality vs. Cost Cons: Paul isn't my next door neighbor & I'm not wealthy enough to hire him away from Traci Scott as my personal stylist. more

\r I recommend Alan with full confidence that no matter what kind of hair you have or what your needs/style desire is he is will give you the perfect cut and color in a calm and relaxed atmosphere. \r \r I have long curly hair and he always gives a great cut, spends lots of time to make sure it is just right. I get comments all the time about how great my hair looks and all I do is wash it and take are of it, Alan does the rest :) As I began to get more and more gray in my hair Alan gentle brought me into a great and easy to maintain color. Again people ALWAYS comment on what a great color I have. \r \r My mother also goes to Alan and she has totally different hair than I do - thin and straight. Alan has given her a cut and color that brings her hair to life. It always looks great no matter how much humidity there is here in Houston. \r \r Alan is the BEST...really! more

Ok, fine- I am picky. Some would say reeeally-picky. But mainly because I?ve gone to a dozen or more vaguely disappointing stylists before I found Alan Conover. He?s amazingly good. Alan?s haircuts are the kind where people ask me if I?ve lost some weight or started working out. (not to mention that I have several freakshow-level colic?s that are now completely invisible thanks to his work) \r \r The space is well-lit, interesting and most important- it has a good feel to it. I can always tell what kind of work goes on in a space by the general atmosphere, and every time I?ve gone in it?s been positive, industrious and damn funny. I?ve had a great experience with Alan Conover and love his work. \r more

i've been to traci scott salon 3 times now and each time i've had a different yet amazing experience...every single time ! so far, 3 times...i've seen alan, christopher, and paul for color, cut, and blowdry/style. all 3 are fantastic @ their craft. relax...not matter what chair you land in, you will leave this duplex on west gray looking fabulous !!!!!\r keep up the excellent work gentlemen ! I have never posted any sort of review on anything but I just had to share the love with other girls with crazy curls. After 30 years of fighting with my hair and trying in vain to make it something it's not (straight!!!!) Alan has taught me to embrace my curls. He truly understands how to cut and style this type of hair. I've had multiple cuts from him and have loved every single one. The salon is great-intimate and so easy to get to, easy parking. Alan has been my hairdresser for the past four years, and is truly amazing! I happen to work in the salon industry and I am exposed to many hairdressers on a daily basis across the country... in my opinion, Alan is one of the most talented hairdressers in the country. Alan has been cutting my hair for about 6 months. He is amazing and very talented. He is an excellent listener and always works with the client to create a great look. I like my hair and get many unsolicited complements. Usually my hair is a little difficult for me to handle right after a cut, but this is not the case since Alan has been doing my hair. Alan and Paul's space at Traci Scott Salon is lovely and relaxed. (NO craziness or soap opera-like atmosphere here!) Justin is super sweet and gives an excellent shampoo. I recently moved to Houston and found Traci Scott hair salon through city search. Paul cut my hair in a modern, easy to fix and maintain style that I absolutely love. I also needed my hair colored and he matched it perfectly. I feel very lucky to have found him. Paul takes his time and is a wizard with scissors. Many thanks for my new look. I have actually been going to Traci Scott for some time and I was only receiving a trim for the long hair that I had. I recently went in to have a dramatic hair cut which quickly ended in uneven layers and completely unmanageable hair. I am currently looking for another hairstylist and I am just so upset because the staff, parking, and atmosphere are great. Nicole did such a great job on my hair. She actually talked to me about what I wanted before she shampooed and showed me several easy ways to style. The salon is very cool - it's a renovated old house in Montrose with a relaxed atmosphere. \r \r Pros: Location. Atmosphere. Skill. Cons: Next to ummy Greek food that makes my butt big. more

Nicole is a great stylist in so many ways. She never rushes you in and out--she takes the time to really listen to you. She knows just how to blend your desires with her expertise to make you look amazing! Though the salon is very professional, it's still casual and comfortable. Nicole fits in with that atmosphere perfectly, because there's not a pretentious bone in her body. She's there to serve you, and she makes you feel like you're her only client. I've had nothing but a great experience with her. One more thing--I love the scalp massage she gives when she washes my hair. It's really relaxing! I have been going to Traci Scott Salon since its conception and wouldnt think of going anywhere else. A consistently enjoyable experience, fun atmosphere, great people and quality service is what keeps me going back. Scott has been my stylist for many years and always ensures that my trip to the salon is quite the experience. This is a modern and trendy salon, but it is also very customer-centric and truly hones in on your personal style as a client and never tries to strap you with a look that you will not be comfortable with, nor able to maintain for the sake of a trend! more

My hair stylist is AMELIA; sweet, easy going, professional, a great listener, and EXCELLENT at cutting hair. I am very, very picky about who cuts and colors my hair, and Amelia does a wonderful job and is ""pro"" long hair. I bring my infant daughter whenever I go and the entire staff loves her and pays so much attention to her, it makes my experience so much better. In the past I had to wait until my husband got home from work to have my hair cut, but I don't have to wait for him anymore, I can go when it fits my schedule. Okayyy! MARISSA does my lip and brow waxing and she is awesome. She's clean, sanitary and communicates without waxing beyond what you tell her. She's trustworthy, 100%.
